The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If you like FPS and GTA, you may wanna give Cyberpunk 2077 a look. It's definitely an RPG as well, but it's a big open world city like GTA, you play in first person, and you can make your character fight pretty much however you want via the perk system.

If you want to be a gun-toting badass who runs in and destroys people with shotguns, you can build your character that way. If you want to stick to the shadows and get huge bonus damage for stealth headshots, you can do that instead. Or you can do what I did after finding a giant dildo that functions as a melee weapon and pump all your points into blunt weapon bonuses and stamina and just run in and beat people to death with a giant vibrating cock.

The game was a mess when it came out but it runs pretty well now and looks amazing. The level of detail in the city is incredible. The driving is a little wonky, but there are fast travel points all over and driving is rarely a mission requirement other than going from point A to B, and often NPCs will give you the option of meeting them somewhere rather than driving with them.

The shooting in the game is a lot of fun, especially when mingled with the hacking mechanics. You can unlock the ability to remotely detonate an enemy grenade, for example, or force an enemy to commit suicide.

Just note that you can’t play the game exactly like GTA. Killing civilians or cops is generally a no no unless a specific mission calls for it. But there are no shortage of gang members around for you to slaughter, and you get paid for taking them down too.

Please don't send spoilers, but I'm halfway through God of war 2018, and man kind of let down. A good game, but kind of just drags. Not in a rush to pick up like the last of us series. My biggest complaint is the characters never shut up. I try to row the boat, listen to the sounds and just get a little piece and quiet but a character always has a story. It's really annoying. Never get a moment of quiet in this game.

25 tasks and 7 target practices away from 100% on mgsv.

I'm sure absolutely nothing happens upon completion

Really enjoying Dying Light 2 and Returnal currently. The latter is extraordinarily difficult, doubt I have the patience to beat it. But the combat is S tier.

My friend sent me his copy of GoW Ragnarok in the mail, should be arriving today. So might get stuck in with that as well.

What's pissing me off in these new era of games is the immersive movie way they tell their story. Every new game doesn't have cut scenes, so you're still in control of the camera l, but then you're smacking buttons because your can't tell when the non playable section ends and when the gameplay resumes. Kind of annoying, because some games will just start you in the middle of action without knowing when to exactly begin, all for the sake of realism and immersive game when all I can control is the camera anyway.

I got Fire Emblem Engage and I'm not sure I like it all that much... Like it's not bad, but it feels like their original style of games, without as strong of a MC and depth in the characters... Three Houses, in my mind, is way better!

Engage got really good reviews from what I've seen. Taking a bit of a break from games but was planning to get it in a few months

Like it's not bad, but it doesn't have the story and character depth that Three Houses does... I also like the flexibility of character development in battle that Three Houses has... Engage doesn't have that... Very few extra battles, so it makes it hard to level grind and build up support (I like to level grind) Also so far, I'm on like chapter 16 or so... All the Characters but 2 were automatic recruits. In past ones, you have misable characters and/or stuff you had to do, to get said characters... Some early game characters honestly I don't even use anymore since I couldn't train them. Plus they have all the old MCs from the previous games and they focus a lot on them and not enough on the new characters...

Maybe I am being biased, but they took away features I liked in Three Houses, so I am not enthusiastic lol Like it's not horrible, but to me, it's just not as good as previous ones.

Yeah 3H is a major departure from something like FE6-8 but I liked most of those changes

See it goes back to the older games in a sense in Engage so it loses some of the stuff... Plus no gold or exp maps/battles either (at least not common).

Just beat the new Dead Space remake and it was very very good. Easily one of the best remakes ever made. EA Motive didn't just stick with what worked either, they completely revamped certain areas and made the story more cohesive.

Highly recommend you check it out if you want to scratch that survival horror itch. I'm about to do another playthrough now lol.

I finished Guardians of the Galaxy earlier tonight. It's a solid 7/10 game. A perfect one to pick up during a Steam sale. I got it during the Christmas sale for around twenty bucks, and that feels like a good price for it.

The story and writing were good, as were the performances. The combat was mediocre and repetitive. The ship combat was absolute dog shit and whoever designed it is a bad person.

There were some curious design choices. You can unlock perks for Starlord by collecting two different types of components in the environment. However, there are far more components than there are perks to unlock. I had all of them unlocked by halfway through the game, but those components are still available to collect. It made no sense. Similarly, you gain XP from combat that is used to unlock new abilities for members of the team, but you unlock them all by two-thirds through the campaign and then just stop gaining XP completely.

Drax is great, and a pretty consistent source of laughs throughout the main story. It was also nice to see Cosmo in a more prominent role, as he's reduced to a cameo in the movies.

The game is gorgeous, too. It feels next gen. Characters look great, although they're kind of lifeless when they are having in-game conversations outside of cut-scenes. They'll speak with emotion, but their characters won't utilize appropriate body language. The environments were impressive, and also really varied. You go to a bunch of different planets and space stations and they all have their own look. They had the opportunity to put together some crazy designs and sweeping vistas and they took advantage of it.

Overall, solid game. Worth playing if you want a good comic book story.
