The "What are you playing now?" Thread

I know nothing about Witcher series but I picked up 3 on sale and I don’t normally play these rpg’s if that’s what it is and I just couldn’t get into it. Too many things to learn. Too many buttons to press, too hard.

i haven't really dived into the Witcher franchise either, but the new one they have been teasing looks incredible

It does. Visuals look amazing and the reviews are always great. Maybe I’ll give one more try

I'm here to sing the praises of the Switch 2 version of Rune Factory: Guardians Of Azuma. First of all, it runs great, even in handheld mode, unlike Rune Factory 5. Secondly, the depth here is insane. I don't think I'm gonna need another game for the rest of the year until Pokemon comes out.

For me, Witcher 3 is the best game of all time. It's hard to explain how when it came out, it just made every other RPG made around the same time feel like it was from a previous generation. Graphics, characters, game and quest design, dialogue, story, everything was on a level that hadn't been seen before. In many ways, RPGs are still playing catch up. I think Dragon Age Inquisition won GotY the year before the Witcher 3, and it felt like a game 10 years older.

Funny enough, I feel like Clair Obscur is in many ways similar thematically to what I consider was the Witcher's storytelling high point, a quest from the first expansion (Hearts of Stone).

As someone who hasn't played the franchise, but appreciates good gaming, would it be sacrilegious to start with Witcher 3?

Absolutely not.

I’ve played Witcher 3 through 3 times. I couldn’t even tell you where to find the others or what the covers look like.

Witcher 1 is crazy janky but a diamond in the rough, Witcher 2 was still janky but a damn good game in its own right. I'd say 2 is worth playing but you're fine just playing 3. I'd watch one of those youtube recap videos and you'll be good to go.

Nope. I did this. Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time.

Really enjoying Clair Obscure. One of the best games ive ever played. On Act III.

^Ive had the witcher 3 since it release about 10 years ago (it came bundled with my 970). Despite restarting a few times over the years l havent managed to play more than 2 hours into the story. So maybe it's time for another try with W3.

Also: Been battling mental FOMO to buy the switch 2. I haven't enjoyed Mario Kart since Double Dash so that game is not a strong selling point. I think what annoys me is the messaging and PR that the switch 2 can finally play the games the Switch 1 runs terribly. It actually just pisses me off that Nintendo is selling what is basically an updated GPU to play what it should have been capable of handling from the start. Its just a PRO basically.

Witcher 4 is going to be a day one/take a week off of work kind of purchase for me.
