The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What's everyone's favorite gaming review/news site? Used to be IGN for me, even when quality started going down because I just didn't feel like finding a new one. The site has become so completely cumbersome to navigate at this point it's ridiculous.

Kotaku has been my favorite for a few years. IGN's quality has really dipped and their reviewers get paid off by the big companies because they know most people go to IGN for their reviews.

Their website is trash too.

Yea. I still look at the scores but I use Youtubers now like ACG.

You know I see this mentioned all the time in the comments section, but I have never seen anyone produce any proof.

I watched a YouTube video once from a reviewer that used to work at IGN, and he said it was pretty commonplace across a lot of reviewing medias. Kontaku is probably guilty of it too, but at least their website isn't dogshit.

It's pretty obvious when you see these sites plastered with ads for the games they review.

Kotaku and Polygon are okay but man, they are really bizarre. Talking about the “human cost” of making AC Odyssey in their review. Every time I read something there I feel like somebody is trying to find a deeper hidden meaning in everything instead of just review a fucking videogame.

Well, there have been plenty of stories about horrible working hours in the video game industry for years, so that's where that's coming from. There was a mini-scandal over it around Red Dead 2's launch.

I know. I get it. It’s not really what I expected to read in a review about the game. Probably why I tend to just watch YouTubers for reviews instead of reading the sites anymore. I just don’t need the gravy. I’m also not super into the politics of the gaming industry. Clearly they have an audience and that’s fine, but that isn’t what I’m there for.

Those two sites specifically seem to care more about pushing their brand of politics than actual gaming. Gaming journalism is really bad now in my opinion. It's why I think most people are better off finding a like minded community and hear what they have to say rather than an activist...err I mean journalist.

Precisely what I was referring to.

Battlefield Firestorm. Woke up at 4 AM for the launch.

3 games, 0 kills so far. I like it doesn't take 2 clips to kill someone like in Apex Legends.

I am convinced tapping the left mouse button instead of holding it, to fire short bursts is better than spraying.

Finally got some kills.

Anyone playing OOTP 20? Wondering if it's worth an upgrade from 19

First experience playing Red Dead Online. Just kept getting slaughtered trying to mind my own business.

So how do you have fun online? Can't believe they don't even have poker.
