The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I signed up for a free 90 day trial of GeForce Now to see how well it works. I don't have the greatest connection speed here, so streaming can be hit or miss. When I tried the free google preview of Assassin's Creed: Odyssey via stream, it worked really well most of the time but there were other times where the game would either become borderline or entirely unplayable.

Given that GeForce Now gives you access to basically every game you own, it was ideal since my back-up hard drive that has all of my games stored on it died recently, and I don't have enough space on my primary to install a ton of games. I'll get a new back-up at some point, but I haven't been using my PC all that much lately so it hasn't been a top priority.

I decided to try Team Fortress 2 first. Been a while since I played, and I have never tried a multiplayer game via a streaming service before. It worked...pretty well. There's definitely a perceptible lag between when you do something and when it happens on screen, but it's not so bad that you can't compensate for it. I finished in the top three on my team my first game, and that's without having played TF2 more than two or three times in the past four months. So it was definitely playable.

Will give some other games a shot later.

Andromeda was solid.

The thing is expectations are so high for any ME game that being "solid" isn't enough for the die hard ME fans. I thoroughly enjoyed the game though, even though some of the fetch quests were annoying but I thought the story developed nicely and Ryder was a pretty solid character by the end of the game.

During N7 day last November fans talked about wanting original trilogy remastered and andromeda 2. Andromeda had best gameplay, but felt more like 1 with new worlds and storylines. I wish they would've done more with settlement vs it be arbitrary and not matter. When in the vehicle it had some of the best conversions between teammates ive seen, made me pay more attention to side stories. It also left enough story to continue where you left off. Quarian Ark, Benefactor, species who created the scourage just being a few. Enough to warrant a follow up.

3 got messed up by switching writers in the middle of 2 and having your ending leak right before the game came out causing a delay. Instead of working with writers Hudson and Weekes shut out the rest of the room. Entire ride in 3 left some of the best story moments in the series.

Now i want to do another replay!

Call of Duty Warzone looks to be the BR mode. Available soon, possibly tonight.

This guy gets all the scoops and is usually right

Um yes please. Barely touched MW multiplayer (not bc I didnt like it, just had other shit going on) but I'd gladly reinstall to play the BR.

BR also looks to be free to play.

He updated, doesn't look like today.

Fornite new season starts the 20th, so I'd guess they want it out well before then. Friday is Valentine's Day, so if not Friday, maybe Monday?

So we can install it separately? Might be nice seeing as the CoD MW game file takes up like half my PS4's hard drive.

Do you guys torrent games?
I have steam and buy games, but it is too expensive.
I wonder if you guys torrent games too and if it's safe?

Yes

That depends. I've been pirating since file sharing was a thing on message boards, before Napster/Kazaa/Limewire/Bearshare, etc. I'm an IT professional. I've never had an issue with any of my PC's.

Other people only browse the web, email and use MS Word, but still manage to fuck up their entire PC.

I recommend purchasing the game (or finding a way to pay artists/creators that you enjoy) if it's something you truly enjoy. I pirate things nowadays so I can see if it's something that I'm gonna play for a day or two then forget about until I uninstall it, or if it's actually worth the investment.

Slay the Spire is the game I've played the most outside of Dota/Sports Games/Retro Gaming over the past few years.

Oh yeah, I buy those indie games to support the developers. Also, having them on steam is way more convinient.
I also love slay the spire.

I got a new PC less than a month ago and I'm a bit wary. Do you have any sites that are safer than others? You use a private tracker perhaps?
I didn't give two shits during that Kazzaa and Emule era lol. Just rather keep my PC malware free lol.

But not using torrents on a PC is a damn waste. It's probably the best thing available.

Nope.

No offense, but you sound like the person that I'd just tell to buy the stuff. It stems from you attributing an increased amount of caution to your new PC.

Malware isn't going to affect your hardware.

Worst case, install a new OS (actually, worst case is an MBR infection where you have to fix that before reinstalling your OS. Are rootkits even a thing anymore? Been a while since I kept up with malware)

For pirating software, I still use TPB and 1337x. Not sure if there are better alternatives out there or not. I do it pretty rarely.

I use private trackers for media, which I'm using constantly.

I'm not so hard up for money that I need to torrent, honestly.

I won't say I never torrented anything (a movie or TV show here or there, back in the day), but I haven't in a long, long time and don't really intend to again. Video games cost a shitload of time and money to make. I'd honestly feel kind of terrible torrenting them. Games just aren't that expensive relative to their dev costs these days.

That said, I do understand wanting to try shit out before buying and demos are mostly a thing of the past.

Yeah, I usually do it to try out games before buying them since I only have so much time and I don't want to waste money buying games that I find out half an hour in are just not for me. I've got a billion games in my Steam library due to thinking something looked cool.
