At least I've got RE3, FF7, and a metric fuckton of games on Steam to tide me over.
Yeah, it's not getting great reviews.prepare to be disappointed by RE3

Yeah, it’s just okay. It looks and plays almost exactly like its predecessor, which is great.
Feels much more like an action game than a survival horror game. The jump from RE2 to RE3 feels kinda like the jump from RE4 to RE5.
Haven’t finished it yet (I’m almost halfway through), but I’d probably give it 7/10. Haven’t tried the multiplayer yet.

Bummer. I picked up the game already but haven't started it. Enjoyed the demo though.

I always thought it was funny how Resident Evil 4 was such a huge hit for being much more grounded and actually scary, so the response was to do the complete opposite and go right back to all the crazy nonsense in 5.

im about 80% through and I can’t believe I’m already that far. It’s so short I feel ripped off. Haven’t done a single puzzle, and every boss thus far has been nemesis. Even the forced encounters with nemesis are boring.. mr x was just so good last resident evil maybe I expected more. 7/10 seems fair, I’d probably go down to 6. Just hasn’t seemed like a typical RE game to me. Never played the original third installment.
I'm almost done with RE3. Haven't played the multiplayer yet.
Can't recommend anyone buys this at full price, as you'll be able to clear it within 4-8 hours of gameplay on any difficulty. This game is about as long as the DLC for other games. In fact, this should have just been a DLC for the RE2 remake. I'd imagine I could platinum this game in about 15-20 hours. Resident Evil games are generally made so that you play through them multiple times and they typically all have unlockables and achievements for doing speed runs, but even this game feels short by Resident Evil standards.
Wait for it to go on sale if you plan to get it. If I had to do it again, I'd wait til I could pick it up for half or even a third of the price.
Minimal spoilers ahead.
PROS:
- Graphics
- Sound
- Controls
- Atmosphere in some areas
- Fleshes out some of what was happening behind the scenes in RE2
- Nemesis is still a badass character and his redesigns are pretty cool
CONS:
- Much more of an action game than survival horror game
- The only legitimately tense/scary areas are the ones they reuse from RE2
- Almost no puzzles
- Very little variety in enemies
- Way too short, and some areas from the original have been almost completely cut (such as the clock tower)
- No alternate endings
- Overall feels rushed
Overall, it's a fun diversion for a weekend afternoon, but nothing beyond that.
