The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm on the Rogue lite games.

Hades, Dead Cells, Inscryption. I'm at that point in my life.

I used to love RPGs, but i'm way too old for this now. Don't have the patience or the attention span. I'm all for that dopamine rush.

Dead Cells is the shit.

Oh wow, I'm older than you, and I'm still into RPGs. Actually I think I'm better at them now than when I was younger because I'm better at problem solving, especially in battle. Astria Ascending so far is really good.

I've actually been enjoying Astria, but I'm not very far into it. Just mainly mess around with it while I'm sitting at work. Forgot my controller today tho, so no gaming for me.

I used to enjoy the progression arc and lvling stuff up and all of that. But now i'm impatient and it's too much shit.

Let me just hit some stuff and loot.

Anybody playing Age of Empires 4?

Let me just say that Back 4 Blood was such a disappointment. I had high hopes.

That's disappointing to hear. I had thought about picking it up when it went on sale.

At least to me. The difficulty seems too cranked up, the level designs feel like a mess of circular paths with no rhyme or reason. Far too often I don't have a fucking clue where I'm headed, even after playing the levels a few times. Part of the issue comes with the same levels being reused multiple times, but having different actions needed in the map. Now I'll say I've been stuck always playing with randoms, and thus have no fucking idea about the narrative in game or why I'm doing what I'm doing. It just feels too chaotic at times for me.

I think it's pretty telling that Back 4 Blood has 17k players on Steam atm, while L4D2 has 20k. Although I know the playerbase is much larger for B4B thanks to being on game pass.

I downloaded an arcade style football game called Retro Bowl on my phone a few weeks ago. Similar art style to Techmo Bowl. The actual gameplay is very simple, but really fun to bust big plays. You have a roster building side of things too with player morale, free agents and a draft. It's a fun little game.

Not sure this is a game to play with randos.

Me and a few buddies have been casually playing and enjoying it. Although I agree about the maps.

I'm excited for Forza Horizon 5 to drop tomorrow. Will add to the rotation of Dead Cells and Rocket League before Halo infinite drops

If a game requires I have a dedicated squad to have any enjoyment, then it's not a game for me in general. Everything just feels so terribly random, and I get that's the nature of the Director 2.0 or whatever it's called. But there's just time it seems to get obnoxious even on base difficulty. Here's an absurdly long run with 0 heals. in 10 steps, there will be birds hidden just around the corner of a building. As you startle them, you will bump into a Hag just as you get pounced on by one of the wall hanger things. Oh hey look, 3 armored breakers just to add a little spice to it. It got real old real fast to me. And I can still happily jump onto L4D or L4D2 and have a blast in a half hour. Just feels like they tried to do too much and ended up with just a giant pile of stuff.

Normally it wouldnt be a game for me either to be honest, but with it being on gamepass I had some friends with easy access to it and minimal investment. Certainly wouldn’t have paid $60 for it but it’s the only MP game I’ve latched onto in a long time. I’m sure it’ll burn out after a while, but having fun while it lasts.

The card system to me is clunky as hell though. They really couldn’t find something a bit more streamlined? Idk. Whatever. Once Halo drops I’ll be poop socking that.

I couldn't get any of my normal groups to play it, despite being on game pass.
