There have been many reports of the Cavs salary dumping a player such as Shumpert, or in my opinion possibly Felder, in order to make room for free agent guard Tony Allen. Allen, 35, is known as one of the best defensive players in the game, and along with the addition of Allen's former Memphis Grizzlies teammate Jeff Green, could drastically improve the Cavs' defense. So my suggestion is to free up a roster spot asap to make room to sign Tony Allen. I understand that the Cavs have much bigger fish to fry right now with the Irving situation, and that there's a possibility of other players being moved which could free up a spot. However, we have no idea if or when a Kyrie trade will ever happen. We may possibly just keep Irving another year to see how this plays out. But one thing is for sure... we do not want to wait much longer to sign Tony Allen. He is probably the best free agent available right now, and I'm 100% positive that he would come play here for the veteran minimum to join LeBron and former teammate Jeff Green. The clock is ticking. Please don;t let some other team grab Allen. Free up a roster spot and grab him now before someone else does. Thoughts?

I made a thread about this few weeks back but more I think about it can he fit? He would be a liability every time he's on the court dude can't shoot at all lol
I'd still sign him tho

Tony can come to Cleveland for the minimum.

Not only that everyone who bleeds wine and gold know the office will do everything they can to move Shumpert.

as far as Felder goes. He is might be needed to facilitate a trade as will Shump.

Dumping either of them does not allow the Cavs to sign Allen for a a higher contract.

also its the preseason the Cavs can sign up to 18 guys .

also.. why not check out the free agency thread ...... lots of discussions about Allen there.

We have enough shooting...we need defense. That's why I was surprised we let go of Liggins last season; I really thought he played well on both ends. But it's Dan's team so he can do what he wants with it I guess. After all he does have final say on roster moves.

Welcome to the forum!

Until there is a substantial Tony Allen/Cleveland rumor, this thread will be in the Trades/Free Agency area.

He would be a great bench spark though.
