Trade ideas: Offseason edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Philly Inquirer column has their #1 Ben Simmons trade as Garland and Nance. Positively brilliant as that trade doesn’t match salaries and can’t be done.

Apparently Dejounte Murray on the Spurs is available:

I'm really high on Murray, and he is signed for another four years at a reasonable number. He is 6'5 and last year averaged 16, 7 and 5. He is a fairly decent defender as well.

I think a Murray-Sexton swap with other players to match salary may make sense for both teams. Or perhaps a sign and trade of Sexton for purposes of matching salary.

I think a Garland and Prince trade would work Pop must love Garland since he put him on the team he has been lookin for another Parker;

Pop would love Garland and Prince for Murray but he's not getting Garland. Instead he can have Cedi and Prince for Murray.

I know we are meh about Ford around these parts but take it for what it's worth...

With reports coming out that Lillard wants out. I think option one is Simmons plus stuff for Dame.

An interesting trade IMO would be with the Warriors. Dame for Wiseman, Wiggins, 7 and 14 ? Then proceed to trade Nurk and CJ to rebuild....

Most people here didn’t want Simmons for Love and Sexton. Why would Portland want Simmons and “stuff” for a significantly better player?

Trading your #1 is different from trading Simmons tho. The hope is that Philly will continue to compete. If Dame gets traded, Portland will probably rebuild right? All the other guys will also get traded.

100% agree, though I could see something along these lines making sense for everyone:

TOR Gets: Lillard, #10
POR Gets: Ingram, #4
NOP Gets: VanVleet, OG

TOR resigns Trent and then has 10 to help fill the hole at SF. Lillard, Trent, and Siakam is a pretty nice top three.

POR gets a young player at a big position of need and can potentially add Suggs who would be a draw after playing at Gonzaga. This also saves about $9 mill on the cap this year.

NOP gets OG, who would be a tremendous fit with Zion, and a scoring guard that is comfortable playing on or off the ball. I’d assume they’d try to resign Ball, but they’d have the cap space to try to make a move in FA.

I’d like this for Portland because they then have the option to move CJ or see how things go with him and Suggs.

Cleveland receives: P.J. Washington & 11th pick

Charlotte receives: Collin Sexton

Why?

Cleveland gets a nice prospect in Washington & the 11th pick in a deep draft.

Charlotte gets a scoring guard that fits very well next to LaMelo.

Since we’re drafting Mobley hopefully then instead of PJ Washington I’d rather get Bridges. Looked good last season when Hayward went out with injury

We have heard the cavs like bridges before, but I personally like Washington. I think he would be better at the three, but he can't seem to defend, so I think it would take bridges.. which Charlotte will not give up for sexton.. if we draft Cade, Mobley, or even Barnes, I might trade Sexton and a future first for Bridges..

Why would Charlotte want another guard when they have Ball, Rozier and could retain Graham?

Rozier is in the last year of his contract. If I’m the Hornets, I probably don’t see him as a core piece moving forward. They will have to pay Rozier as much or more than Sexton to keep him IMO, and I think Sexton is a better fit with Melo regardless of age.

Given how their current roster is structured and what the Cavs need, I still think this would be a better option for both teams:

Sexton & Love for Hayward

Cavs fill a massive need at SF with an experienced vet. Garland, Okoro, Hayward, Mobley, and Allen isn’t perfect but that lineup has a lot of potential

Hornets resign Graham and trade Rozier, likely for a center of some type. If they could find the right 3rd team to send Rozier to I’m sure they could bring back a guy like Turner. Sexton, Ball, Bridges, Washington, and (insert center) is a good young team with a lot of room to grow.
