Trade ideas: Offseason edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Rozier is in the last year of his contract. If I’m the Hornets, I probably don’t see him as a core piece moving forward. They will have to pay Rozier as much or more than Sexton to keep him IMO, and I think Sexton is a better fit with Melo regardless of age.

Given how their current roster is structured and what the Cavs need, I still think this would be a better option for both teams:

Sexton & Love for Hayward

Cavs fill a massive need at SF with an experienced vet. Garland, Okoro, Hayward, Mobley, and Allen isn’t perfect but that lineup has a lot of potential

Hornets resign Graham and trade Rozier, likely for a center of some type. If they could find the right 3rd team to send Rozier to I’m sure they could bring back a guy like Turner. Sexton, Ball, Bridges, Washington, and (insert center) is a good young team with a lot of room to grow.
Hayward doesn't fit our timeline though. Don't like it.

What do you mean? According to the F.O. the goal is still to make the playoffs this year, and Hayward definitely helps with that.

There’s likely going to be no vet we can realistically trade for that “fits our timeline” (whatever that might be), is remotely as good as him, and fills a major position of need. If the Cavs can’t find a replacement for Hayward by the time his contract is up, then it’s probably likely the entire rebuild failed anyway.

Hayward plays about as much as Love!

Hornets make sense as a trade partner but we should be looking for a sign and trade of Allen and a third team to get the pieces we want. Rozier or Graham make sense to move off of for the Hornets. There is likely a good trade somewhere that lands Rozier or Graham to a third team and nets us the vet wing that we want. Hornets are rumored to want Allen.

Since we’re drafting Mobley hopefully then instead of PJ Washington I’d rather get Bridges. Looked good last season when Hayward went out with injury

Sexton is too good and makes allot more sense wtih Mobley at pf that if we draft Mobley, we need more in return. I dont think we will get a fair return for Sexton, i am open to listening, but in the path to making a better roster that makes sense, you dont give talent away for pieces and parts.

I am not agaisnt trading Sexton, but we need to give Sexton plus filler, to get a good, maybe even all star back who is unhappy. Lilard is out of the question, but there are some I am willing. I would give a future first with Sexton to make this happen. Not Sexton to get a future first.

I wonder if we could trade Nance for Torey Craig or a similar player.

I wonder if we could trade Nance for a bad contract and a good draft pick. Nance is more of a win now player, and we still are 2 years away from doing a lot of winning.

I think Nance + Sexton + Draft pick is the classic Vet guy, up and comer and pick that gets an allstar. The package makes the most sense for a team that has a disgruntled star, but they still want to compete. Unfortunately, the only guy like that right now is prob Simmons.

I hope the front office remembers that while Kyrie was still under his extension Kawhi asked for a trade. We can talk about Middleton and Brogdan, but the trade that would have gotten Lebron to sign an extension would have been getting Kawhi for Kyrie. Be opportunistic and keep that powder dry. Lillard and Simmons are both complicating the Sexton thing right now, better to lay low and see if the perfect trade pops up.

A trade I’d LOVE to see is:

to ATL: Nance, Windler, & Dotson
To CLE: Okongwu, Reddish, & Dunn

The Hawks have shown interest in Nance before and this could free up a sign & trade involving John Collins.

Atl no way does this trade. Reddish is still young and will be a fantastic defender for them. Okongwu shined in his limited opportunities in their playoff run, if Collins goes, he will be the shoe in starter.

Cleveland receives: Dillon Brooks, D'Anthony Melton, Tyus Jones & 17th pick

Memphis receives: Collin Sexton & Kevin Love

Why?

Cleveland gets a decent package of role players & a first round pick.

Memphis gets a dynamic guard in Sexton. He's a pure scorer so he can play next to Morant.

I really hate to deal Nance but he might be the expendable one if they draft Mobley. SF/Wing is still the biggest weakness for this team.

To Cle: Harrison Barnes

To Sacramento: Nance, Prince

Harrison Barnes? Dear god..

Phoenix values LNJ and have made overtures. His pops started his career there and it would be one of the only teams in the league we could ship him to while winning the sentiment battle that we would lose with any of the other teams. If CP3 opts out and recommits for 3 years, he's the kind of veteran on a similar contract that would step in and upgrade Crowder as well as offer some backup smallball 5...

Phoenix cant keep/pay Ayton, Cam and Bridges, so they're going to have to cash in Cam eventually. If they want either Cedi or Taurean, I gladly add either one as long as we dont take back any long term money (the lone exception would be Javon Carter's 2 years, I'd take him as a defense first backup pg)

Cam Johnson becomes our starting 3-D guy. Smart, mature, one of the prettiest jump shots to spread the floor between Mobley and Okoro, a Tar Heel (we need one in our locker room, rings follow them). Saric would be money found as he recovers just in time for the play-in run next spring.

Do it, Koby Ferry
