Trade ideas: Offseason edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cleveland receives: Dillon Brooks, D'Anthony Melton, Tyus Jones & 17th pick

Memphis receives: Collin Sexton & Kevin Love

Why?

Cleveland gets a decent package of role players & a first round pick.

Memphis gets a dynamic guard in Sexton. He's a pure scorer so he can play next to Morant.

Memphis is too smart to make this deal, but I absolutely would. I can't stand Dillon Brooks, but I'd take him on my team (as long as he chilled on the reckless shooting).

Harrison Barnes? Dear god..
I know he's been stuck out in Sac the past few seasons but Barnes is a better all around player these days than he was in his early years with the Warriors.

Solid wings are really hard to come by in this league. Barnes or Cam Johnson types would be a huge upgrade for this team.

I think at this point we can just stop with the Kevin Love trades. It's not happening. No one is taking that contractual burden from the Cavs.

Atl no way does this trade. Reddish is still young and will be a fantastic defender for them. Okongwu shined in his limited opportunities in their playoff run, if Collins goes, he will be the shoe in starter.
Okongwu strikes me as more of a center than a power forward. He hasn’t shown the ability to stretch the floor and shoot it from deep, as of yet, so he’d be an odd replacement for John Collins. There’s also rumors Atlanta may trade Gallinari, but that may be to clear cap room to re-sign Collins.

I’d love to snag either Reddish or DeAndre Hunter in a deal for Nance. Either would become our starting SF.

Phoenix values LNJ and have made overtures. His pops started his career there and it would be one of the only teams in the league we could ship him to while winning the sentiment battle that we would lose with any of the other teams. If CP3 opts out and recommits for 3 years, he's the kind of veteran on a similar contract that would step in and upgrade Crowder as well as offer some backup smallball 5...

Phoenix cant keep/pay Ayton, Cam and Bridges, so they're going to have to cash in Cam eventually. If they want either Cedi or Taurean, I gladly add either one as long as we dont take back any long term money (the lone exception would be Javon Carter's 2 years, I'd take him as a defense first backup pg)

Cam Johnson becomes our starting 3-D guy. Smart, mature, one of the prettiest jump shots to spread the floor between Mobley and Okoro, a Tar Heel (we need one in our locker room, rings follow them). Saric would be money found as he recovers just in time for the play-in run next spring.

Do it, Koby Ferry

I think the Cavs would want another small asset (maybe a pick?) due to Saric's injury.

Cam Johnson we can agree on, but not H Barnes

I really hate to deal Nance but he might be the expendable one if they draft Mobley. SF/Wing is still the biggest weakness for this team.

To Cle: Harrison Barnes

To Sacramento: Nance, Prince

Harrison Barnes is good. He's like an above average SF, barely I guess but I think his defense puts him there. If he was on the team, I think they make the playoffs. At least another year IMO before Okoro hits that level.

Okongwu just had surgery to repair a torn labrum and is out 6 months. With Collins a free agent and trade rumors swirling around Gallinari, I wouldn’t be surprised if Atlanta comes after Nance again. There’s a workable deal there, as the Hawks are flush with wings, and the Cavs could sure use s good, young one. I’d prefer Reddish slightly to Hunter.

This trade has been discussed here before, but TheRookieWire published this trade idea in their mock draft today: https://therookiewire.usatoday.com/...-roundtable-edition-all-60-picks-with-trades/

Trade details: The New Orleans Pelicans trade Eric Bledsoe, picks 10 (Kispert), 35 (Isiah Todd) and 53 (Aaron Henry) in the 2021 draft to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Collin Sexton.

Without checking, I'm 95% certain we can't trade what amounts to Bledsoe for Collin without more going toward NOLA...

For the record, I don't hate the NOP trade. We would need to trade an additional piece to make the salaries coming in work, but aside from that, I think that would be decent value for Sexton, though I am still reluctant to move him.

here's my trade proposal
Brooklyn gets Larry Nance Jr & Cedi Osman
Cleveland gets Joe Harris & pick #27

Brooklyn gets a defensive player that they desperately need if they want to compete for the right to play in the finals. Offensively they are better than anyone, all of their big 3 can shoot from anywhere, so although Harris is one of the better perimeter shooters in the game, he is a luxury compared to a need. Larry Nance gives them what they are missing, a versatile, rangy defender who can be inserted in nearly any lineup, and play strong defense, while filling the offensive role of an efficient player well. Cedi would be a good energy guy off the bench who is part of the deal to make the money work.

Harris gives us what we lack, which is a player that can shoot the lights out of the arena. His veteran presence will be extremely valuable as well, but he gives us what we badly need, and if we see some of our younger guys, like Windler, for example, develop, then down the road he will become an instant trade asset if necessary. the pick is part of the deal because Larry's value to Brooklyn, a team trying to compete for a championship, far exceeds our need for a shooter to try and make the playoffs. We will need a big offer to move him, but I think this is a match made in heaven.

Yes, these articles typically just mention the centerpieces of a trade. I am sure the Cavs will have to add someone like Cedi while the Pels may have to add more second rounders (or whatever).

I like the trade idea by @The Great Hambino even though I don't want to help the Nets.

Other than for the draft and possible trades, the Cavs might also use one of the exceptions. They have four exceptions and only one can be used per season. The KPJ trade exception of $1.7 million will expire this Nov, but the more likely exception the Cavs will use is the non-tax-payer exception at $9.5 million. Fedor had floated an idea of bringing back TT with that.

I dont think Hunter is going to be traded at all, I hear Atlanta loves him...i do to btw....i think Reddish isnt available, but more available than hunter. I would love either one personally.

I wonder if we could trade Nance for a bad contract and a good draft pick. Nance is more of a win now player, and we still are 2 years away from doing a lot of winning.

Nance is more of a lose-now player in my opinion. Can’t be relied on to score anywhere on the floor, especially when teams ramp up defense in the playoffs. Can’t shoot well enough. Can’t take advantage when a little guy gets switched onto him. Too many liabilities with Nance to have a significant role on a team trying to contend. If we get any of the players being discussed in these trade ideas for Nance I’d be thrilled.
