Trade ideas: Offseason edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think we should look at possible trades with Boston. Not for any of their established stars or any of our young core but swapping guys like Nance and Prince for their young talent like Robert Williams, Nesmith, Romeo Langford, and/or Carson Edwards.

Boston needs to get their players on the same timeline. Those young players need time to develop but the Celtic already should be in win now with Tatum, Brown, and an aging Kemba. Nance and Prince would solidify their rotation. The two guys I would really want is Nesmith and Langford.
Love to get one of those young guys and their first round pick at 16...maybe take a shot at Garuba there.

Yeah there is opportunity there. They badly need to consolidate some of those guys. Cavs reported to be interested in langford.

Menage between Miami, Portland and Cleveland.

Miami gets CJ McCollum and Cedi Osman
Portland gets Tyler Herro and Kevin Love
Cleveland gets Iguodala, Dragic and a 2nd rounder

Boston gets Nance JR. and Windler

Cleveland gets Tristan, Langford and 2021 1st rounder (16)

Maybe Tristan can motivate Love to give us a decent year then he could be dumped.
Boston gets immediate help and a starter In Nance Jr. ,,,In Windler they get a young player with potential that can't stay healthy.

Cavs can use Langford at the 2 , hopefully he can stay healthy and the get #16 in this draft.

Don't see that happening trading Nance. I don't like Langford besides a situational
defender that probably doesn't get a second contract.
Langford has managed to eek into the line up, to end the season for Boston.
This was only due to a plethora of injuries.
He was not that good really, and cannot shoot away from the basket, after 2 full seasons of opportunity to improve his range., So I do not see him being something he works on at all or that gets anyone excited on a roster needing more floor spacers. He sure as hell is not replacing Sexton in the line up lol
Now if they want to part with Nesmith or 16th for Cedi I am in.

He had a thumb injury coming into the league and a wrist surgery after last season. Kind of hard to work on his range with those injuries.

Also I'm not sure the light has gone off for him. He has played alittle over 50 games in those two seasons averaging 13 minute, probably alot of garbage time. That just alittle more than Joe Harris played before the Cavs dumped him.

We have seen from Garland, Sexton, and Okoro that it takes alot of meaningful to see real progress. Our guys would have gotten as many minutes as Langford has gotten by around their 20-25th game.

forgot about the injury, I do like the length and potential defensively, and he does finish well around the basket. Not sure about the shooting either way ever happening, but I could be wrong. I like Nesmith as a 3/d rotation piece better. He had elite shooting % in college from three, but it has not happened in the pros and he does seem a tad soft. So maybe they would just give us the 16th lol I am sure Davion Mitchell or a similar plug in two way guard would be a nice add there.

I’m curious if there couldn’t be a trade involving Love/Osman for Kemba.

Boston gets cheap replacement for Fournier…. We get a backup PG?

I don't think the Cavs should bring in a vet like Kemba to be the backup PG. First he isn't any bigger than Sexton or Garland. Also Kemba was never part of a high level combo guard backcourt. I think if they want a backup PG (not sure it's actually that necessary) it should either be one who is taller and a long term prospect for the team or a vet that was once part of a combo guard backcourt and can help Sexland figure out how to work together.

I could see a 3 way trade with Kemba going to another team and Love going to Boston.

If Kemba had fewer years on his deal, I'd consider it. Since he doesn't, I'll pass; unless he comes with draft capital.

I want playmaking over scoring for the backup pg. Someone who makes guys better helps more with development.

Hope they can keep Hartenstein:

The Cavs might also be looking for another center. Isaiah Hartenstein, who arrived in the JaVale McGee deal with Denver, has a player option. Sources expect him to exercise that and become a free agent. Hartenstein, who made the minimum this past season, likes it in Cleveland. But he boosted his value over the final few months and opting in would make him underpaid at $1.7 million. Hartenstein’s preference, according to sources, is to renegotiate a more lucrative long-term deal, staying with the Cavs as Allen’s backup.

So we're going to pay market price for two developmental centers. Great.
