As logical as that seems I don't think it is accurate really.Well, it was reported that the coaching staff was all set to start Okoro at the 2, but was overruled by the FO. I'm going to infer that's because the FO wants him to play up his trade value as much as possible, but I could be wrong.
The lack of a contract extension and that report, when paired, show that Sexton was not in the team's long term plans before the season. That could change, but I doubt it has thus far.
I think the Cavs wanted a 5th year and Sextons camp was seeking a seemingly reasonable 4/100 right after they gave Allen 5/100 and wanted to give him around the same amount.
The two sides could not agree to the minor details and now that he is hurt he will probably be retained for far less.
In the end he may just opt to get healthy and move on if he wants a bigger role in the offense than what they are shifting towards, however I am not so sure that will be their stance either given his big game ability and overall iron man career for the most part until now.
I don't expect his mindset off the court or with his contract was me me me like so many like to insinuate or claim based I guess on his go get some play style in a 3 year stint with poor offensive options around him. Now that he is the one struggling with his shot to the point of not even taking many and now that he is the one unavailable due to injury it will make it even easier to move him in a trade in the minds of his detractors as they watch RR going off for career numbers in his absence but we all know it was done while defenders were daring him to shoot thankfully for the Cavs RR made them pay and proved some guys can't shoot at all with defenders on them but are lights out when open.
I hope Sexton gets well fast but I am not so sure that is the case this time. I think if anything he will end up being packaged with Osman or something before the deadline if he is still hurt and that will have been his last game in Cavs jersey where he had 4 dimes in 13 minutes smh
