Trae Young

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Dude is one of the worst defenders I've ever seen in my life at the NBA level. Like, insanely horrible.

If he doesn't turn into a 47/43/90 guy on offense, then I can't ever see him being anything more than a microwave off the bench for a decent team. He's really, really bad right now.

I thought he would be more fun to watch at least. I just can't get over how he seems like he has 2 brains. He has one half a brain that understands basketball offense really well and he has terrific passes to his teammates. His other half brain has the understanding of shot selection as an 8 year old chucker. I'm assuming his percentages improve, but his shot selection is just insane to me.

So defensively on the Steve Nash Defensive scale, where does he rank 1-10?

Rating Trae Young will probably require using the Jose Calderon defensive scale.

Nash was at least as bad of a defender than Calderon if not worse AND won 2 MVP's which is criminal imo.

At least the voters fixed the issue last year on voting in an awful defensive player tp MVP (yes that is sarcasm)

I'd say he's Jimmer Fredette defensively now, with a ceiling of DJ Augustin. That's reasonable, right?

Calderon was always more like Korver in that he did things the right way, but just didn't have the quicks.

Nash had no defensive heart on that end

If I'm a Hawks fan I would be killing myself over Luka. It would be like us picking Darko over Lebron. Shit sets you back years.

Yeah if you traded back to get Wade, maybe you would still be happy at least for the first 6 years of their career. But trading back to get Darko damn. It's rough.

That First Atlanta game with Sexton and Trae I was worried. No longer. Sexton will likely be good. Glad I don't have to worry about Trae and whether his shooting gets better or if he can ever defend for the next 3 years.

Even if Trae still looked better as of now, it's not like we chose Sexton over him. ATL chose Trae (and 2019 lottery-protected 1st) over Luka. Ouch.

For sure, we weren't even in the running for Trae. That was the storyline going into the draft. Not impossible Trae fell to us at 8 if Atlanata didn't love him so much though. Glad that was not the case.

Like if Porter Jr had been healthy? That could have changed things
