It is getting worrisome. I've checked the bball-ref, and there has never been a rookie player who averaged over 25 mpg and had such terrible FG% and 3PT% on such a high volume shooting.

Basically, Atlanta has to hope that Trae can become a serviceable starter. Forget Steph Curry 2.0... It's pretty clear that's not happening.
 
His catch and shoot numbers are very good though right? I find it hard to believe he won't end up a good 3pt shooter even mostly takes spot up 3's. That is a legit way to go. Pass the ball like a champ and hit over 40% on spot up attempts. That is a shot selection thing. I am pretty baffled by teh fact that he is so good at seeing the floor, seeing the game thing, but also sees every shot as a good one.

The defense thing I don't know what they do. He needs to be on long defensive team.
 
The only thing about Trae is that I wish Sexton had his passing power. Otherwise, glad that the Cavs didn't drink the Coke Zero

Then Sexton wouldn't be the Young Bull, he would be the Young GOAT

Does it make me a bad person that I’m kinda happy he isn’t succeeding? I hate midgets that just chuck from everywhere since I was in high school where I used to play we had so many of these little pricks and it used to drive me crazy, sure he’s a a good person but damn I hate his game minus the passing skills

I understand where you're coming from. Bad shot-selection is selfishness, simple as that. If he doesn't give a fuck about his team, it becomes hard to root for a guy like that.

It is possible the FO is encouraging him to keep shooting these shots cause they still think he’s the next curry but damn passing over doncic for him?! and that mavs pick looks like it won’t even be a lottery pick ouch...

Plus the fact our pick most likely won’t convey until it’s 2 second rounders in 2 years.
 
I just realized that Trae is already 20 while Luka is 19. Not that it makes a big difference, but still...

It's crazy in hindsight. I understand taking Ayton first even though I would have taken Doncic, but taking that tiny guy when Doncic was available is just bonkers. They really outsmarted themselves.

To me it would be like trading LeBron for Derrick Rose and a pick. Probably not even that good of a deal.
