The Indians met Monday morning with Rick Thurman, the representative for Trevor Hoffman, and appear ready to sign the free-agent closer to a three-year deal in the $21 million to $24 million range. Hoffman is expected to take a physical for the Indians on Tuesday.
The Padres believe they still have a chance of retaining Hoffman, and the Red Sox could make a late bid. Red Sox president Larry Lucchino was with the Padres when Hoffman helped the team reach the 1998 World Series

well i dont know about you but i would much rather have hoffman to close a game than wickman. wicky is a great guy and did a hell of a job, but i couldnt stand watching the ninth, i usuall turned the channel and tivoed the ninth.

i guess this will be the last signing in the offseason.

Good pickup. Got a guy that can close for us for the next 3 years instead of just next year.
Don't bash on Wicky, it was a roller coaster, but he still got it done.

Hmm... 8 mil a year though? How much does that leave for a hitter?

I know Trevor Hoffman used to be considered the best releiver in baseball with a wicked fastball and stuff but how is he now? And that leaves like nothing for a hitter so another year of Blake :/

he was never known for his fastball, it is his change up that is really unhitable.

im thinking that shaprio has a lot of confidence in garko, and that we wont need blake to hit for a great average.

i dont want blake but he could still have a better season next year.

Hoffman re upped with the Padres, so we have to offer arbitration to Wickman...damnit

Blob resigned with the Tribe... I am upset we didnt get Trevor, but Wicky can still get it done. Even if you have to go through cardiac arrest watching him do it.
