There are some rumors floating around and one that has gone from tossed around to seriously being discussed between the ballclubs is Ronnie Belliard and Kevin Millwood for Alfonso Soriano. They lack pitching and we lack a power bat, I'm not sold on the Dubois thing. This went from being just another idea to both teams seriously considering the trade. If anyone remember when Soriano came over we were the leading candidate for his services until the all mighty yankees offered 2 million more a season then we could.

I'm not making it up apparently, we'd be bringing up Jason Davis...to fill the right handed role.

lol...Ronnie and Millwood for Soranio?

Come on now..wed have to throw in like four prospects to make that work.

doubt it-- soriano is a free agent after this year..

nobody is going to break the bank for him...

jason davis is trash-- he can beat the tigers- but that's it...

Nah the rumor has millwood and belliard for soriano they need pitching they have the offense with mench emerging blalock young and teixera, plus they get some back in ronnie.

It will take more than two stiffs for Soriano, regardless of him being a FA after the year.

i heard the rumor too on espn and baseball tonight. I'd do the trade in a heartbeat but who knows what'll happen..

hate to say I told ya so but I did lol...

That maybe the start, but like I said, it wont go down without the Tribe ponying up some prospects.

So no, you didnt tell me so..no trade has been made so they obviously dont want just those two because any person in America would pull the trigger on that if they got Soriano for a beatup aging pitcher and a solid two bagger.

Yeah but this is the base, don't look for us to be shipping them Phillips Garko Carmona Sowers Aubrey or Gutierrez or anything. I actually think we have too many prospects which isn't bad it just means we have 2 capable guys in many positions we should sort out the best and deal a few prosp's for some veteran guys do launch us above the Twinkies.

We have a lot of prospects like you said and we should use them to our advantage..

I wouldnt do this deal, simply because he is a FA and it would be a waste because we wont make the playoffs this year anyway.

Get a bat that wont cost us a lot and will be here next year or just wiat.

good thinking.. only way i would do this if he guarantees us he'll stay after he's a FA.. which is highly unlikely...

the rangers would probably do millwood for soriano straight up, or maybe a prospect tossed in for good measure....for one, we're dealing with john hart here, he loves to help out his former team (go back two years and check out the hafner deal). two, besides kenny rogers (the dudes a headcase), millwood (who i wouldn't by any means call a stiff) would have the best ERA on the rangers staff. his record is so bad this season due to lack of run support. he has the lowest support in the league. he'd probably be their number two starter, perhaps number one if rogers goes off the deep end again. they need pitching desperatley.

i'd say giving them milly and ronny would be too much for soriano. yeah, he has the offensive numbers, but soriano is horrible in the field. ronny is an above average second baseman, who happened to make the all-star team last season.

this deal will probably will never happen because...all these guys mentioned are free agents next season. there's no insurance that they will stick around. both teams are pretty much out of their division races, and are fighting for the wildcard, and in a few weeks, may not even be in that hunt. i just don't see it happening.

i wouldn't mind dealing millwood, because i doubt he will be coming back to cleveland next season. he chose cleveland because he thought we had a powerful lineup that would give him plenty of run support. i'm sure he's not too happy about what actually went down. plus, he'll be out of our price range anyway.

Wouldn't break my heart to see this trade happen, although I do like Kevin Millwood. The trade would work, because in essance, both teams are likely renting players. Millwood will want a 3-year $30+ million deal in the offseason, which he isn't worth to the Indians. The Tribe has the pitching to dump. Plus, I think there may be more trades because all of Davis, Traber, Tallet, Cabrera, and Brown are out of options for next season.

I'm VERY hesitant to give up on Jason Davis. In his last two major league starts he has gone for 15 shut out innings, you don't just give that up.
