Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He literally doesn't provide them a lot of the same stuff. What Tristan provides is closer to what Sabonis provides for them. TT is not the rim protector Turner is. You throw in TT next to Sabonis and they may clean up the glass but the inside of the defense gets destroyed on a nightly basis.

I don't think so. Everyone on the team is a good defender. When TT plays with good defenders he is also very good. He gets beat when he is in no man's land and has to cover ground he is not big enough to. When he hedges he can get beat by either guy. When he is locked in defensively with other guys who can defend he is all over the place and very disruptive.

That's a good point though, and it makes sense.

Everyday this guy isn't off the team I wonder wtf Koby is doing.
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING KOBY?!

He has the look of a star player, but not the execution. 6'11" 250, mobile, 35% from three, but is not able to show as the best post player on his own team, and got dominated by bam abedeyo just two days ago.. he has taken a step back in his sixth year with the pacers this year.. he has been playing starter minutes, but just does not seem to get better.. I mean physically he is AD, so why is he an average big?

There are rumors of an injury so there is that..

I think given our particular arc, if we are gambling on an injury, we would look for someone pretty young, short track record, that will come cheap.. Exum is a good example.

I would consider Turner if he came with a solid first, but I don't think Indy has that, or would do that. If they are willing to add a first to that trade, then fine, but without that, not interested..

I would also do Whiteside for TT&sex if he comes with a first as well. I think Portland would value that more than Indy. TT fits better next to Nurkic, and Sexton provides relief for Dame in low challenge regular season games. That an we will never face them in the playoffs... Whiteside is not a long term piece, but is a trade able contract to a team that has shit for bigs.. he is a distraction in Portland when Nurkic returns..

We wouldn't be getting Turner for his post game, or to be a post scorer really. Just not his game, so comparing him to AD because they have similar physical measurements it's kind of futile.

What he does offer on offense is his 3 point spacing, which would be pretty beneficial for Garland (and Sexton if he's still here). Beilein likes his forwards shooting threes anyways, and itdls an asset in today's game. You could argue a vertical spacer would be more beneficial, one who is a real roll target rim runner, but I think 3pt shooting centers are harder to find.

But thats just the side point. Turner is a good player because of his defense. Hes such a smart rim protector with legit tools, able to defend in space too. A real anchor that we don't have for a long time now. He would really help out Garland and our whole team defensively.

These kind of above average rim protectors aren't available too often. Especially not one who isn't a liability on offense (and actually provides spacing which is again super rare) and isn't ran off the court instantly in close situations.

So hes not your typical low post scorer center but actually a very rare commodity in today's game that can bring a multitude of benefits. The only real concern is the injury questions, as it's a real concern why Indiana would trade him when he's young and provides all the above. So due diligence needs to be done and maybe the Pacers wouldn't even give him up at the end of the day. But he'd be a good fit for the team for sure.

Obviously Thompson's 35-point, 14-rebound performance against Drummond and the Pistons was a fluke. We only got 18 and 13 from him in the win over Denver. What a thug, uh, I mean slug.

Seriously, it looks like he's really trying to get traded.

I love contract year Tristan,,damn 100% effort every game,,helping the young guys get lined up right on out of bounds plays...and being
a cheerleader when he's not in the game. Don't throw tomatoes at me but I'd love to keep this guy for a couple more years (hoping he would keep this level of play up) ,,and dump Nance JR. 2 years 30 million extension? Am I crazy?

The crazy part is thinking that hed accept that.

Someone else will give him more. Maube not per year, but more years. And likely a team that can be good.

So unless he specifically says he wants to stay then I wouldnt count on keeping him in the summer.

2 years 30mil, 2 years 40mil.. its not gonna make a difference for us given we aren't gonna sign anyone good. As long as the deal isnt longer than 2 years it really doesnt matter. I prefer to trade him and get assets though

I just dont see what Tristan brings with hustle and offensive rebounding being useful to our team wile he is young enough to still be good, i rather get an asset for him. I like Tristan, he is a winning type player, but he belongs on a contender.

You guys ever see Camby's nipples? They're pink. It's the weirdest damn thing I've ever seen. They look like the nipples on a chocolate lab.

High character Tyrus Thomas is my best guess for TT.
Looking back immediately post-draft, here’s two guys who nailed it.

Big performances as of late! Wouldn't be shocked if a contender does come calling for double T. I had many a doubt about the dude's hands but his doggedness over the years has paid dividends for our draft selection and then some. Always brought his hard hat and got after it.

Had only hoped he could add a midrange J to his game and he'd reach a new level. But his post moves have greatly improved along with his touch on the floater.

Never gets too down on his teammates with the media and all around good man, despite the Kardashian.

Depends what the asset is,,a late first rounder meh, we are already developing Sexton/Garland/KPJ/Windler/Osman and our top 10 pick next year...if they trade Love I think they need to keep TT,,they need some stability around all these young players. I'd rather have TT way more than Nance Jr..he provides way more. I do agree that the odds that Tristan even would resign here are probably pretty low.

Agreed, feel there's some untapped upside left with Larry. Just seems that Kevin may be unlikely to be moved until another season or so.

Stability is certainly vital as has been shown throughout the follies of those beloved Brownies. Tristan provides the key capacity to guard both agile PFs and strong centers and provide good help side positioning on most posssesions. That cannot be said for the current edition of Love. Both damn good players in their own right.

I rather have him than Nance but I would still trade him for a late first. I don’t really see Cedi as developing anymore, he is who he is now.. think he will only improve marginally as the team hopefully improves

I'm looking for contenders who could use Thompson. Maybe Miami? They have a good center in Bam Adebayo (15.8 pts, 10.4 rebounds in 34 minutes), but he is the only center listed on their roster. They're tied with Boston for second place in the East. TT would fit in perfectly with their hard-nosed style of play.

Miami has a hole at PF where Myers Leonard has started all 39 games but only averages 20 minutes and 6.0 points. He and Kelley Olynyk basically split the position, each getting 20 minutes. I don't know who plays center when Bam sits down.

I'm not familiar with the Western Conference.

As for signing TT beyond this season, I'm wondering if he would be agreeable if the Cavs were the only team to guarantee him a starting job and if he saw a lot of progress in the second half of this season.
