True Crime: Infamous Crimes, Unsolved Mysteries and the Like

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think that is the weakest link (insofar as it is all dubious).

But, then again, in the Chris Jenkins case they know he was driven around for hours in a van.

I am not sure if that will be an episode but it was the first case in the group that was classified as a homicide a couple years after they ruled his drowning accidental.

A confession led to the reclassification in that case.

What?!? There was a confession? You have a link?

I didn’t find it but it’s mentioned in this piece that takes the stance that these were all accidental drowning victims.

Yes that piece mentions it in passing.

Chris Jenkins’ case was later classified as a homicide based on a confession of a criminal well known by Minneapolis police. He did not commit the crime but in exchange for a lighter sentence he told them what he knew; that Chris Jenkins was abducted, tortured* and murdered and it was well known in some circles. The suspects he named had long absconded. This is the origin of the van thing.

Along with a re-evaluation of the autopsy evidence,** and the results of a scent hound tracking his last whereabouts, they concluded it was homicide.

I will try find a link. It definitely was in a book Jenkins’ family wrote.

*It is claimed Jenkins was driven around in a van for hours subjected to essentially water-boarding, and “psychological torture.” Oddly enough more than one criminal told the same story, however a variation is that he was killed for wearing a Native American costume that night.

**One of the most interesting points of the autopsy was that a clump of his own hair was held in a tight grip in his right hand. Torn from the roots. Evidently this is seen in those who struggled to get a hand off their head as their head is dunked underwater.

And, if I recall, the water in his lungs wasn’t river water.

Not asking politically, but do people think the Death Penalty is a still worth having?

Bump.

The Simply Vanished podcast is starting to operate on the same territory as has been covered in this thread regarding the Smiley Faced Killers.

I absolutely recommend that folks listen to the podcast.

The newest information is starting to form a very shocking picture of what may have been going on.

Like with the Jacob Wetterling case, it is clear the police completely missed (because they fucked up the basic police work once again) a cluster of activity, that, in hindsight, made Josh's disappearance neither random, nor surprising.

I use to be a huge fan on True crime. Forensic files, cold case files and then podcasts, but I quit because it comes across as supporting people profiting off other people's grief.
