Ty Jerome: Alive and Shooting!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's interesting, but maybe it has too strong an association with lethal diarrhea, perhaps?

Every time he's on the floor, he shows how he's mul-Ty-skilled ? Too dad joke? Too @Lee ?

Every time he owns and opponent, is he a Ty-coon ? No? Fails hard for one seriously uncomfortable tooth grindingly awful connotation.

How about every type he nails a 3, it's a Ty-stick ? You know, because his shooting percentage is soooo damn high?

Ehh. This is getting painful. But I think we can all agree that his impact on the team has been Ty-Tanic.
Maybe his jersey should be Ty-Dye?

Maybe if the team goes out and gets drunk together they Ty'ed one on?

If you shoes laces are not together, then you need to Ty your laces?

Maybe for the sake of preserving comedy, you and I should end this Dad joke marathon and say it ended in a Ty?

Any way he gets extended keeping rest of roster as is?

He's not eligible for an extension, but we can try to re-sign him in free agency. Because we only have his early bird rights and not full bird rights, the max we can offer him is something like $13mil a year. (105% of the league average salary)

I think we can keep Ty, I dont think we can keep Ty and Levert though.
I'm not sure we can...at least not if if keeps this up. He is playing himself out of the early bird range and into the Strus/Levert range.

I'd love to see him re-signed, but I'd seriously contemplate if the best play is to find a trade. It's totally hypothetical, but if a team were to offer a cost-controlled player I'd have to consider it. You could get a rookie scale guy in a trade who you would control for a while for that. I'd rather keep him, but realistically, I'm just not sure how possible that is becoming.

We can pay him 12-13 mill next year, which is a bit below Sturs and LeVert, but he will be 28 and has had 3 season ending injuries in his career.

I just think other GM's will be Leary of paying him 15-20 mill a year because he hasnt been good till now and injury history.

But we have to be careful of trades, this season matters and he has been our most important bench player this year.

If we had one of the Curry brothers, then we could have my favorite dish which is Yellow Curry Ty Food.

And this is why you never get in a Dad joke contest with me, eventually the jokes get worse and worse.

No. Next year Garland gets a 3 million dollar raise. Don goes up 13 million. Evan 27 million more. Jerome, Vert & Merrill are free agents. Depending on Vert's injuries, all 3 of those guys are likely looking at significant raises. The projected second apron is going to be 207 million next year and we are at like 190 with only 10 guys (none of the free agents) signed. Levert alone will cost that much. We have 128 million in our top 3 salaries next year, 164 in our starting 5, it will take some maneuvering to build the rest of the roster.

Ty playing for starter money right now.

The best maneuvering is keeping the roster very deep.

And for the Cavs, that may mean two things:

1. Going over the 2nd apron for 1 year to retain 1-2 of Jerome, LeVert, and Merrill

2. Not including any of the young cheap pieces (Tyson, CPJ, Travers, Bates, Diop, 2025 MIL 2nd, 2026 Cavs 1st) in deals unless a difference maker under 30 is part of the return

Even over the 2nd Apron, you can still make 1 for 1 trades where you get a matching or lesser salary back. So say they go over the 2nd Apron to re-sign Jerome and LeVert. You could still do a 1 for 1 trade next year(or in the summer) for a big wing or PF/C using a variety of contract. Difficult in that you’re limited as to what sweeteners you can offer but still possible to find a match.

Just don’t know if letting all three of Jerome, LeVert, and Merrill walk for nothing is in our best interests.

I agree. Koby has some work to do to figure out how to keep as much as possible and who has to go to make that happen. I think the obvious place is at the 2/3 where we could have Vert, Strus, Okoro, & Jerome all making between 11-20 million. I like all of those guys at that price, but I don't see how we keep all of them.

He's definitely been Ty-dying up. Unfortunately that leaves us with dying, which is a PR nightmare as well.

How about Ty-lenol because he's curing headaches for Cavs fans.

Ty-de Pod because he cleans up?
