Tyronn Lue has been fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Drew's post-game comments were interesting. He sounded like a guy taking over a brand new team with which he was completely unfamiliar. And I don't mean that in a disparaging sense towards Drew. It almost sounded like there was no clear strategy or approach under Lue at all. Like everything was rudderless, and so Drew has to start from scratch to see what works.

Didn't sound like Drew and Lue we're on the same page at all.

I don't think it's that surprising that Lue didn't really have a strategy. He really was about letting the players figure it out since he was here. I never thought it was a bad strategy when Lebron was here because it made it hard for other teams to defend us. We saw how Lue could figure out how to break down Brad Steve's offense year in and year out in the playoffs. Same thing with Toronto.

It was pretty clear in the 6 games this year that Lue didn't install any structure or plays. Even last year he didn't seem to interested in helping the new players along by giving them plays. Hill was even on the record about how him and Love had to come together and figure out plays to get Love going in the playoffs.

Lue wasn't coaching. It was obvious as fuck. He was just chilling and gathering paychecks. Lazy mothefucker. Though we need t ochill with the winning.

I guess I dont understand how Lue's departure could so transform the team.. Hood was literally twice as efficient in this game than in any other game he played in Cleveland.. The starters were all plus 20 or better, and we scored over 130, while still playing occasional defense.

If I am Dan. I work something out with Drew that is heavy on bonuses for wins.Whats the down side? If it was a one night stand Drew drives the Tank, if it has real, then we optimize the value of our assets

The other take away from this game is that Trae Young is pretty good. He was dropping 3' from 30 plus all night.

He may have been somewhat incapacitated by his illness. But damn...I really wish we'd have fired Lue in the offseason and brought in a new coach. Really obvious at this point.

I dont think this is fair, or high quality content. Even if he was not the coach for our situation, you have to have some respect for his involvement with our only ring in ... forever.

I was never a Lue fan, and I have long believed he was not among the elite coaches, but calling anyone at his level a lazy duck, is just wrong on its face.. He is gone, and that's a good thing. Let it lie at that

The ring was won in 2016. He coached for 2+ seasons after that. Whether it was laziness or partial-incapacitation by this anxiety issues, there's nothing wrong with calling him out for shitty performances during that period.

Fair enough.

I don't contribute winning a ring to Lue, but to Lebron and Kyrie and the supporting cast. This was also years ago.

I think he is a very bad coach that didn't give his all to the team and the players and just didn't have any sort of passion towards coaching and coaching this team in particular.

Have no problem with calling him out, and have done that myself, but I had a problem with the dehumanizing way it was done, which sir dom improved in his response to me, hence the like.

People are still talking about this guy and what he's saying?

Lmao, what he's saying doesn't matter. He doesn't matter. He's one of the worst coaches in franchise history - I legitimately don't care he won a championship here. Paul Silas, Mike Brown, Randy Wittman, and Lenny Wilkens all would have won the title that year too. It was all Kyrie and LeBron.

I don't think it was all Kyrie and LeBron, but I do agree that pretty much any coach in Cavs history would likely have done as well.

Gilbert gotta sell the team.

Lue should have been fired TWO summers ago. To fire after 6 games....why in the world didnt you just fire him this summer? Did Dan honestly not think it possible we start off poorly?

Again, I look to Milwaukee, where Budenholzer has them shooting 40 3s a game and theyre 7-0 and think that could have been us. He could have been our hire.
Waitaminute. Are you saying that if THIS roster shot 40 threes a game that THIS team would be 7-0?
