Virtual reality

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
anyone buy one yet?

Just saw this thread. I've had an oculus rift for over a year now. Absolutely love it. First time I put it on it blew my mind and it took my brain a while to realize it wasn't real. I really can't wait till vr gets more accessible.

I got mine on Tuesday. Before I got it I thought it would be strictly for travel with my PC VR as my primary VR. First impression is it's so easy to set up and use, and that I love not having any wires, and the ease of moving to another room, it may very well end up being my primary VR with the PC VR left strictly for games that aren't available on Quest.

We'll see how that ends up over time.

How much VR porn do you watch daily?

How’s the VR experience been?

Thinking about buying the Quest to pass the time and maybe get a little exercise when I’d otherwise be sitting.

well worth it. Beat Saber, Space Pirate Trainer, Thrill of the Fight. Bigger space you can set up to play it, the better.

@inliner311 I figure I should take the VR discussion to this thread. You don't think I should get the PS VR? I appreciate the feedback, but I'm really curious as someone who has never tried it.

I've been debating it in my head. I can honestly picture myself not playing it a ton since I like to play games with someone, mostly just my brother, but I don't even do that as much. I could pass on it and wait for a better iteration, but there is supposed to be a deal coming up where you get the bundle with 5 games for 200 bucks. That's a pretty good deal. I figure I can re-sell it and get my money back worse case.

I do plan on getting a Ps5, which this VR headset is still supposed to be compatible with it. I think the VR could be a fun novelty item for people to try at the holidays etc. But I could also easily just put that money towards other games.

I won't get the Quest, but I've been in such a Star Wars mood lately and that Vader Immortal game intrigues me a lot. They need to make more Star Wars VR games.

I was also thinking about VR and the future of gaming/technology. I feel like VR will only really be super popular once it gets to the point where every console is automatically packaged with one. I think it would have to advance to the point where it becomes smaller and cheaper to make, but it has to get in people's hands. I don't think the current gaming style will ever go away.

And as someone who hasn't tried it still mind you, they look clunky. I think it would have to get to a point where you can easily explore VR worlds with multiple people too. That would be the best way to attract. And have the in-game tracking so precise to your body movement. Maybe through a software that can pin point your skeletal structure through the camera and function in the game automatically. Or place markers on your body, gloves, something that helps eliminate controllers unless you need props for immersion.

The potential really is insane. Or maybe it will just take one ground breaking game or software that will make everyone want to get it.

I did buy the Quest headset last week. It is pretty cool. The Star Wars game is really interesting. It's not so much of a game but you really are like a character in the movie. It's a different experienced. It only takes 30-45 minutes to get through it and then you have to buy another episode to continue the story.

Try Beat Saber and Space Pirate Trainer (there is a demo of this)

PSVR is pretty good, but has limited movement including you can't turn around in a game. Oculus quest lets you turn as much as you want in a play area large as you can set up. The larger the area, the better the experience.

Here is what it's like to play space pirate trainer. Moving around to dodge shots really helps in this game

Space pirate trainer has a clear front direction, but other games don't.

another game where large play area makes it better

The PSVR felt like a novelty to me. I used it for a couple months then I was over it. I haven't tried any other VR so I was in the same boat as you are.

The screen door effect really was what did it in for me. I know some of the newer VR headsets have higher resolution per eye which might make the screen door effect less apparent.

I said when I sold it that I would dive back into VR at some point but I just thought that PSVR wasn't there in terms of technology advancement yet. It just felt it had alot more steps to go.
