W Phoenix 106 Cleveland 113

Re: Cleveland vs Phoenix

Nash shakes off AV and easily shoots the jumper over him. Well, I guess quickness can beat AV's wildness.

Nash steals and Eddie House hits 3 in transition. Damon answers with a 3 of his own. 52-42.

Snow is trying to guard Diaw- what a mismatch that is...

Pavs wheels into the lane and hangs in the air for the foul. Good court presence.

If we could just get it together defensively. I'm thinking try Newble to augment Varejao's wildness. Now that AV has shown what an offensive monster he is :chuckles:

Re: Cleveland vs Phoenix

Bill Walton expressing concern for our defense with Mike Brown having the defensive reputation. But you know what...he's so right.

Marion shreds through 3 or 4 Cavs in the paint for the layup. They just have so much more patience offensively than we do. Steve Nash shows why he is MVP-caliber.

Re: Cleveland vs Phoenix

Sasha slashes and passes out to Damon. Weird... Damon misses.

Damon hits on the next one though. 60-51 Phoenix.

Re: Cleveland vs Phoenix

We don't match up at all. Varejao playing because Z can't move that fast. tons of open looks for the faster team.

I doubt we could beat this team 2 out of 10 times.

Yeah, speed kills. Ideally being as strong as you can while maintaining 3 of 5 faster guys = wins.

Re: Cleveland vs Phoenix

Suns shooting over 60%. We will not win if this continues. Hopefully better D in the 2nd half!

Re: Cleveland vs Phoenix

Brown's halftime adjustments include transition defense, and getting Lebron into pick and roll. Hopefully they can convert.

Z opens the 3rd with a jumper on the L block, 60-53 Phx. But we leave Barbosa wide open on the wing.

Lebron hits jumper from the key to bring us within 5. 60-55.

We stop Barbosa in transition, good job there.

Re: Cleveland vs Phoenix

Holy snot....Bill Walton just said Z is playing the best ball at the C position in the entire NBA. That's some high praise.

Kurt Thomas hits 2 easy jumpers, 1 from the L wing. 66-55. Dammit, from down by only 5 to down by 11.

Re: Cleveland vs Phoenix

Kurt Thomas picks up his 4th...this could be a big break for us. Who will guard Z? They put Diaw on him, I think he's 6'7. Z can take advantage here.

Re: Cleveland vs Phoenix

James Jones hits his 3rd trey in transition to stretch it to 14. Wow we re-lost this game in the 1st 4 minutes of the 3rd quarter. Barbosa hits for 3. Walton amazed how quickly it got out of hand. 72-55 Phx.

Well the players didn't take Brown's transition defense adjustment to heart, that simple.

Re: Cleveland vs Phoenix

Z misses at the line- Lebron looking dejected. The commentators decide the game's over and start blah-blah-ing about the potential Lebron triple-double thing with Oscar Roberston.

Meanwhile the game has become a track meet which we are getting beat down in.

Diaw picks up his 4th, and amazingly Z is still in. Capitalize big man!!

Re: Cleveland vs Phoenix

This is a game we needed a healthy Larry Hughes to help with the transition defense. If we had better transition defense, we could have controlled the pace offensively.

With LBJ on our team, I'm not saying its over just yet... but it doesn't look good, does it?

Re: Cleveland vs Phoenix

Wow, Gooden looks like @!%$ out there. I admit I'm a quiet Gooden supporter, but dammit man he looks totally uninvolved out there.

Marshall comes in and hits a 3.

Diaw and Lebron trade buckets. That won't work for us, we need stops!

Re: Cleveland vs Phoenix

Agreed, Kypus. Gooden has all the skills to be an effective transition defender, but its hit or miss with him. Today, Gooden has been a miss.

Agreed. Larry is the quiet catalyst we need so badly.

Lebron hits some stuff and steals and blah blah whatever, suddenly we are only down by 9. Why do they do this to themselves....would have been so much easier to play some transition D like Brown wanted.
