Wolves' Notes
  • Hassell: Averaging 9.3 pts (57%) in 3 wins, 3.5 pts (33%) in losses.
  • Garnett: 5.7 assists and 3 steals in last 3 games, averaging 7.9 FTAs per game this season :gap:
  • Blount: Season high 10 boards on 11/6 at Sacramento; shooting 58% on road
  • Davis: Leads Minny in assists (5.1) - season high 27 pts Tuesday vs. Portland
  • James: Avg 17.5 pts (45.5%) on road; 11.7 pts (42%) at home :thumbdown

Cavs Notes

  • During our current 4 game winning streak, we are averaging 102.3 points on 48% shooting and giving up just 92.5 points on 44% shooting. During that stretch, we rank 4th in the league in points allowed and 6th in FG percentage defense. Yea for Brown's system!!!
  • We are off to a 6-2 start for the second consecutive season. Last season, we started 9-2. Wowsers!!!
  • We have NOT been outrebounded yet this season and we are currently tied for second in the NBA in rebounds per game (44.9).
  • Next: At Washington Wizards, Saturday, Nov 18th, 7:30 EST.

Series Notes

  • Last year, the series was split. We lost 89-85 on Nov. 26th behind Garnett's 26 points - he hit a tie-breaking jumper in the final minute. We won on Feb. 8th, with LeBron netting 35 points, 11 boards and 8 assists.
  • Minny has won 10 of its last 14 meetings against us. However, the Wolves are 5-2 in their last 7 trips to Cleveland, so they've had our number at home. We lead the overall series 19-13

ChicagoCavFan's Keys to the Game

  • We have to pick up the slack for Larry Hughes. His energy will be missed for a few games. Sasha will have to play aggressive, and stay out of foul trouble. Maybe we'll also see more minutes for Shannon Brown.
  • Can Z get going? Not sure, but Mark Blount shouldn't be too difficult of a task. With Larry out, maybe we'll make more of an effort to get him involved, making the game a bit slower.
  • Keep Garnett from dominating. Drew draws a tough assignment. AV, IMO, is a good matchup with Kevin. He has the quickness to stay with him. Will he fall for Kevin's fakes though? Stay disciplined on defense. Donyell should extend his defense out to the perimeter, opening up the lanes a bit.
  • Sasha vs. Ricky Davis. I think this will be a fun matchup to watch. I like Sasha's improvements on the defensive end - Davis will present a challenge for him. On the other end, I can see Sasha giving Ricky a run for his money. Will be fun.

I DO NOT PREDICT.

Re: CAVALIERS vs. TIMBERWOLVES

It should be interesting to see what Sasha can do in a whole game.

Let's make it 7-2 Cavs!

Re: CAVALIERS vs. TIMBERWOLVES

Everybody is saying it's time for Sasha to step up...Um no..

Sorry, but as far as an individual goes, the pressure falls squarely on our Center who is literally stealing money from the "Association" as I type...The pressure is on him to step up.. His FAT 7ppg is not cutting it.. Now, with that said, it is a team effort that has to make up the loss.. But, Z has to be the aggressor..

Sasha (unlike Z) is not a former all star.. He's shown nothing more than being an inconsistent off guard at this point.. Thus, there really shouldn't be any expectations with how he'll perform...

The production has to be picked up from the center position...

Yeah, they'd have to make the game slower to get IlSlowness involved

I actually know quite a few people who think Garnett > LeBron..We'll just see about that

Ricky D is a baller, Sasha won't be able to stop him...But it won't matter.

Chalk up another W for the Cavs...

OK, we've been saying theres certain matchups that dont favor Z, but if he can't do anything against Mark Blount at home, we got problems.

LePIP ignorance is bliss..

If Jackson did half of what Sasha's done this year you'd be asking George to draw up trade scenarios to move Larry..

Re: CAVALIERS vs. TIMBERWOLVES

WTF, CDT... I didn't say anything negative about Sasha in my post.. If he's proved anything more to you than being an inconsistent wing at this point, you are watching different games..

Show me a level of consistency where I should feel comfortable that he is the guy that the pressure should be placed upon to fill the shoes.. Cause that's what I'm talking about.. You on the other hand, I have absolutely no idea what the hell you're talking about..

So, when you get the time, find me the numbers that will prove me wrong, and the numbers that show the consistency.. And while you're doing so, please explain to me where the ignorance is coming from, since I'm not ready to make Sasha the 2nd go-to guy...

That's all I'm sayin'... Wasn't an indictment on Sasha...

Re: CAVALIERS vs. TIMBERWOLVES

So easily baited :chuckles:..

I know he isn't the 2nd go to guy, but answer me this...is there another bench player that's been more consistent as of late? Marshall is fiery hot or ice cold..same with Damon..Varejao is good for insane offensive rebounds and if he doesn't get those then his only value is the occasional charge..

Gooden will be LeBron's Designated PIPPEN while Larry is gimped but don't be surprised to see Sasha dropping 15-15+ with consistent minutes with our playmakers..He had us 7-0 for a stretch last year, and his defense is much improved this year.

I was only messin with ya PIP..

Re: CAVALIERS vs. TIMBERWOLVES

True.. I'm not saying Sasha can't.. All I'm saying is he hasn't done it yet.. He does have the occasional outbust game.. But he very rarely follows it up with another decent game..Se we really can't expect it from him..

Z on the other hand is being paid a lot of money to suck right now..Granted, his defense has been steady during this down time.. But, now the team needs him more than ever, so lets see if he's willing to step up for this team..

Hmm the cancer is coming back to Cleveland (The black hole city he claims) ... Nothing would make me happier then James shittin on him on a dunk. God I hate that guy.

Just stop KG and it will be an easy win.

Re: Cavaliers vs. Timberwolves

I'd like to see LeBron actually shit on him. Like mid-air...just sort of levitate for long enough to pull his pants down and pinch out a big fat brown one right on Ricky's face.

What do you think would happen if LeBron did that?
