INJURED
boozer.jpg

Carlos Boozer--hamstring (not with team!)

Jazz Notes
When a Cavalier fan thinks Utah Jazz, immediately Boozer comes to mind. He is still injured and not with the team on the road trip. This is the second year he has skipped coming to Cleveland, I wonder is he scared to face the fans? Last year his face was posted on the scoreboard periodically so the fans could boo him. Has Cleveland moved on yet? It seems clear to me that the Cavs are better off without Carlos. I was upset at first too, but now i am happy the fool is not on our team. We should cheer he's not here!

Andrei Kirilenko, Utah's best all-around player, only played 12 minutes last game due to a hurt back. He should be able to go, perhaps not at 100%. Mehmet Okur has been the Man on the Jazz, leading the team in points and rebounds.

Cavaliers Notes
The mighty Cavaliers are coming off two strong wins over Denver and Miami. They have broken out of the funk they were in, and seem to be on the right track. They played awesome in the first 3 quarters of the Miami game. They let up in the 4th, but LeBron saved us. Like Reghi says, we need to bottle and cap the first 3 of the Miami game. Great ball movement, driving to the hoop, tons of assists, inside/outside game, defensive toughness, monster effort!

HPD's Prediction
I feel like the Jazz are severely overmatched in this one. With the Cavs strong play lately, and the history with Boozer, I just think we are going to roll over them. We can handle Okur and AK-47. At home and with the Mojo, I predict a win of 20+!!!

Re: Utah Jazz @ Cleveland Cavaliers

how true... 20+... cavs 118 jazz 89 :king:

Re: Utah Jazz @ Cleveland Cavaliers

hmmm... now we'll see whether it is better for us to see donyell start ahead of gooden...

Re: Utah Jazz @ Cleveland Cavaliers

Im not sure Donyell will start, with Drew's ankle injury, i just figured he would. I like your spirit fsqp13!!!

Re: Utah Jazz @ Cleveland Cavaliers

I read the paper saying Gooden will probably play but not start, probably go about 15 minutes Donyell going around 30 and Henderson around 15 as well. I think Donyell will be perfect in the starting lineup, we have everything in their, Scoring with LeBron Larry Z. Defense with Snow and Larry and just some shooting in the first 6 minutes would be nice, plus he is a solid rebounder.

PS Doesn't it seem like we have like 1 game then like 2 days off of late? Kinda sucks...I need the Cavs to watch every other day or so.

Re: Utah Jazz @ Cleveland Cavaliers

I hope he starts, i think he'll be great in the starting lineup! Will be interesting to see how a deep shooting threat to start the game will play out.

Re: Utah Jazz @ Cleveland Cavaliers

now if only mike brown can open his eyes and start jones i think we will be tight.

Certainly not tight on defense.

When Jones's has an attitude adjustment and takes steps to being more effective on defense, only then will Brown consider the punk.

We need to stay aggressive tomorrow. Utah have surprised a few teams lead by the talented Okur. Marshall is a good matchup for him as he is a decent perimeter defender where Okur operates regulary. This would have been too tricky a matchup for Drew. With Kirilenko ailing along with Harpring, Utah will lean on rookie Williams and role players Brown and Giricek for offense to support Okur.

We should be too much for the Jazz at home with complacency our biggest threat. Getting Hughes involved early is usually a winner and if we can take this game early we can rest Ilgauskas up some more.

Utah (11-13) at Cleveland (13-9)

Game Info: 7:00 pm EST Tue Dec 20, 2005
TV: KJZZ, FxOh

LeBron James looks to continue his strong play in December and lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to their third straight victory when they host the Utah Jazz.
James is averaging a league-high 35.5 points per game this month, and he's scored 40 or more in two of his last four contests.

James had 52 points in a loss at Milwaukee on Dec. 10 before scoring 39 in a defeat to Atlanta last Tuesday. He then had 26 points as Cleveland snapped a three-game losing streak with a win over Denver on Thursday, and scored 41 in Saturday's 115-107 victory over Miami.

Against the Heat, James had a run of 13 consecutive points in the fourth quarter.

"Once I start feeling like that, I feel unstoppable," he said.

James added 10 assists and five rebounds, impressing Miami coach Pat Riley.

"A guy like that gets it going, what are you going to do?" Riley said. "I've seen too many players like him. At times, you're helpless. He's like a freight train with Dwyane Wade's speed."

Donyell Marshall added 25 points and 13 rebounds against Miami, both season highs, as the Cavs won consecutive games for the first time since an eight-game streak from Nov. 7-22.

The win, however, was costly for Cleveland as two starters suffered injuries. Drew Gooden reaggravated a sprained left ankle, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas sustained a mild concussion in the game's final minute.

Ilgauskas didn't practice on Monday and is questionable for this game, while Gooden said he hopes to play.

"I'm going to try to go," Gooden said. "It was really tender, but I've got a couple days' rest and hopefully I'll be able to recover. I hate to miss games, it comes from Roy Williams (his college coach at Kansas) because he used to say you can never replace a game and I've become addicted to that."

The Jazz should be healthy for this game after having Matt Harpring miss Saturday night's 88-80 victory at Milwaukee and Andrei Kirilenko leaving the game in the second quarter with a back injury.

Kirilenko and Harpring, who didn't play after receiving a cortisone shot in his knee following Friday's loss at Indiana, are both expected to return against Cleveland.

Gordan Giricek scored 14 points, Mehmet Okur had 14 points and 14 rebounds for his fourth consecutive double-double, and Deron Williams also scored 14 for Utah on Saturday.

Williams and Robert Whaley were fined by the Jazz Monday, and Whaley was suspended for one game after being cited for lying to police after a bar fight.

Neither player was charged in the fight early on Dec. 11, but police said both gave false names at the scene -- apparently not wanting their identities to leak.

Utah has won three of its last four and is 1-1 on its season-high five-game trip. With a 6-5 record away from the Delta Center and a 5-8 mark at home, the Jazz join the Los Angeles Lakers as the NBA's only clubs with winning road records and losing home records.

Cleveland swept last season's series with Utah and has won four of the last five meetings between the teams.

Utah Notes
Dec 18 F Andrei Kirilenko scored just five points on 2-of-6 shot. ... Gs Deron Williams and Andre Owens, both rookies were huge down the stretch combining to score 20 points. ... The Jazz shot 3-of-10 from the 3-point range but committed 16 turnovers. ... Milt Palacio had eight points, five assists and three rebounds off the bench. ... After losing their first game of a five-game East Coast swing, Utah is 1-1 with tonight's win.

Cleveland Notes
Dec 18 F Drew Gooden suffered what appeared to be a badly sprained left ankle Saturday. With four minutes left in the second quarter, Gooden flipped in a hook shot but landed awkwardly and went to the floor. He stayed there for a minute or two before being helped to the locker room and did not return. ... C Zydrunas Ilgauskas also was injured. With 55 seconds remaining, Ilgauskas dove for a loose ball that was picked up by Miami G Dwyane Wade, who inadvertently kicked the 7-3 center in the head. Ilgauskas also remained on the floor for several minutes before leaving under his own power. ... F Donyell Marshall scored a season-high 25 points and F LeBron James tied a season high with 10 assiss.

Re: Utah Jazz @ Cleveland Cavaliers

Damn straight I'm a great coach.

We must take advantage of injury weakened mediocre teams, with Utah being one of them.

I wish we had 3 or 4 days off between games!LOL Team is like a MASH unit right now....we need some healing time. Fortunately 7 of next 10 are at home.
I really hope Marshall starts tonight and Z is playing. I agree with many here that think that rotation would be our best starting lineup.

Re: Utah Jazz @ Cleveland Cavaliers

Boozer, not EVEN going to make the trip! What a coward! Does he really think we are going to forget about it just because he refuses to show up. :chuckles:

If you ask me, he is making it worse.

Re: Utah Jazz @ Cleveland Cavaliers

karma u say jones cant play def? well looks like snow is doing great lol NOT. snow does one thing good he knows how to take the charge and knows how to not shot. everyone sees how wide open are pg's get behind the three point line and jones would be great there. and he been decent on deff not that bad. but jones is not anything special but is by far better then snow. so get your facts stright buddy. also when someone scores on snow does he score back NO cuz he sucks, but jones would use a 3 pointer most of the time.

Looks like I've been owned.

You just keep picking Jones in your NBA Live team. It actually would be cool to be able to change the real NBA to starter level so that players like Damon Jones can excell.

Anyways, back to reality. Jones don't play D, Jones dont start.
