Yeah, Grossi's comment is pretty much a guarantee he's going to Pittsburgh.
the steelers would have to cut about 8 players to make it happen, or potentially 6 players and completely talk down Big Ben from his salary.

Even if that were to happen - who cares? Pittsburgh isn't exactly trending up. Pouncey retired this morning. Ben is another year older and looked washed last year. Still no running game. Retirement is knocking on Haden's door - he'll be 32. JuJu may walk in FA - and may need to in order to fit any FAs under the cap...

At the end of the day, JJ will be 32 and just had the worst statistical year of his career. He has a combined 9 sacks in the past two seasons. He still has value and would be a nice add to our line... but let's not pretend he's anywhere near the same player.

Id like talent to not flock to our competitors, regardless of their age. Making a good defense better is a problem.

To add to AZ's post, the steelers are currently OVER the cap, somewhere between 15-20 million. Even if Watt was going to take a HUGE pay cut (probably still worth 15-20 million a year), it would be incredibly difficult for the steelers to get him.

Ill be honest I would love him on the browns, but i think its a lot more likely they go try and make a splash in the secondary, than the defensive line.

Edit: the Steelers most likely cut Joe Haden, which will save them a ton in cap space (12 million), they probably dont resign Vance McDonald or they cut eric ebron (either option saves 5), and they probably cut Steve nelson (8 million saved). So that gets them under the cap by 5-10 million. However that also means they got rid of their 2 best CBs.

The only other options they really have to get under the cap enough to get Watt are; restructure Big Ben, cut DeCastro. But not sure Big Ben is willing to give up massive amounts of money, while the rest of the team is stripped down, just so the steelers can give Watt big money.

Watt will barely get 10 million, he had 5 sacks, 52 tackles, 2 FF and 1 int.

Olivier Vernon had a better year for us last year and lots of us were saying he wasnt worth the 16 million he got.

I would love Watt opposite Myles, but the injuries and age have taken their toll on him.

This is a solid point.

Funny thing is that it seemed like Vernon's production came right when Myles went out with COVID. You'd think he would've been doing better while Myles was on the field. Do we place too much weight on d-line quality affecting individual pass rush performance?

I think this chart shows why comparing raw stats of Watt and Vernon don't tell the whole story.

The teams ahead of us do not have the money to sign him. They would need to move on from several key players just to bring him in.

We can simply bring him in. Plug and play without losing anything.

Packers already have Zadarius Smith and Preston Smith too. Steelers have no money. Bucs have no money.

Probably the biggest decision of the new Sashi era is this question of who lines up opposite Garrett in 2021.

Could quite literally decide this teams chances of a Super Bowl.

Garrett -- Richardson -- DJ Jones -- Watt

That, friends, is a force within a division where Villanueva is hitting free agency, Orlanda Brown requested a trade and the Bengals are potentially the worst OL in the league heading into this off-season.

Assuming the Packers stay in a 3-4, Watt won't be playing linebacker. He'd be slotted in as a 3-4 DE, probably his best positional fit.

Their current top two defensive ends are Dean Lowry and Tyler Lancaster.

Isn't it likely that the Bengals, next year, have Jonah and Sewell as their two tackles, making possibly the best young tackle duo in football?

I think the only way Sewell slips to the Bengals is if QBs are selected with each of the top four picks. It’s certainly possible, but I’d be surprised if the draft went that way, especially with an elite tackle prospect like Sewell on the board.

They'd certainly like Sewell, they might need to move up 1-2 spots to get him.

Wouldn't be surprised if 2-3-4 are taking calls for just that reason. Sewell is unreal, and I'd imagine his off-season workouts are where he's going to absolutely wreck, because he moves like a damn linebacker.
