Week 1 2018 |Browns vs. Steelers

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I still dont know how Tyrod underthrew his receivers so many times today. Especially that Gordon one.

I find it hard to believe that Baker couldn't have made those throws.

I just landed and now catching up. But did the weather have anything to do with this?

Guys it's possible to be both disappointed that we lost but still happy about some of the things we saw.

The Browns didn't lose. Their losing streak ended today.

What's with the attitude?

Let's not act like Philly didn't trade Bradford to open the door for Wentz.

OPEN THE DOOR FOR BAKER AND DONT LOOK BACK.

ETA: I was a firm believer in sitting Baker, but I don't see how Tyrod keep Baker off his heels playing like that.
I agree that Baker is ahead of schedule and is going to play this year.

I also think Taylor’s play today, despite bad, was in the worst conditions possible. He didn’t step up in the pocket, taking bad sacks. He underthrew footballs in the rain.

So did Ben.

I’m just saying I’d give Tyrod a few more weeks to make sure Baker is uber-ready before considering a change.

You guys are upset about this?

The Browns can play Pittsburgh to a tie after going 0-16?

This is such a frustrating take it makes me want to scream.

You and a whole bunch of other people really need to stop acting like what the Browns did from 1999-2017 means ANYTHING to what they are doing in 2018.

The team has been completely overhauled.

This isn't the NBA. Teams go from last place to the playoffs literally every single year in the NFL. It's a league designed for immediate turnarounds.

It absolutely was a factor. There's no way it couldn't have been. It's not an excuse though, and we should still expect better from Tyrod and the playcalling than what was showed.

I get the disappointment but not the Taylor hate...I mean, he was sacked 7 times and was being pressured all the time in a downpour. I'm not saying he was great by any means, but where's the hate for the O Line? They were terrible. Not impressed by Haley's playcalling at all. The running game was underutilized. In OT, we have a 3rd and 1 from our 35/40, and he calls that screen over the middle. Just get the first down. Taylor played pretty much like I expected under the conditions. He's a C+/B- QB. You knew what this was.

The bright spot is the defense, obviously, but the run defense was terrible today, too. How could they be that unprepared knowing it'd be Conner and knowing what the weather would be like. It's clear to me that whatever the defense achieves this season is going to have nothing to do with the coaches.

I’m not going to comment on what morale should or shouldn’t be; but Denzel Ward was exceptional imo.
He’ll learn from the touchdown he surrendered — and even then — he still had position which I still found to be encouraging. He’s going to be so good I think.

I also liked what I saw out of Randall too, honestly.

I’d accuse this defense of being talented; the run defense adjusted and was effective in the second half. There was plenty to like defensively.

Offensively? Umm. Yeah. The run game at least showed some signs of life in spurts. But Tyrod needs to stop his impersonation of J.T. Barrett and trust that you have guys that can make catches in traffic sans Njoku whose hands are seemingly suspect.

We should be able to score 21-28 against NO; it’s my hope the defense can improve off its performance today but I don’t expect the game to go particularly well next week.

He didn't play behind a great offensive line in Buffalo, but there's a reason why Tyrod Taylor has been sacked 95 times in his last 31 games (the most in the NFL by a wide margin).

He holds onto the ball as long as any QB in the NFL.

Sometimes that's a good thing. See his 8 carries for 77 yards rushing today, all but one of them on scrambles if I remember correctly. But often times it's a bad thing. See him eating 7 sacks.

The problem really is WHY he holds onto the ball for so long. Unfortunately, and it showed up in a BIG way today, Taylor is a guy who needs to see his guys come open before he's comfortable pulling the trigger on the throw.

He's always going to be a guy who struggles against tight man to man coverage. He's just not comfortable fitting balls into windows or throwing guys open with anticipation.

He's going to be near the league lead in sacks taken this year regardless of how well the Browns OL plays IMO.

I still think they win if Peppers catches and runs with that late punt. Really took the momentum away. He is just not an aware player. Has to get into the end zone on that fumble too. Ben nearly caused a touchback as Peppers carried the ball unsecured. Was out of position a number of times as well, though they did make him play far off the line. Really wish we had taken TJ Watt over Jabril.

I think blaming Peppers is comical. Personally. But you have some weird vendetta against him.

They are exactly as the score showed.

A team that has made a lot of progress, has a lot of talent but still isn't there yet.

That defense has a lot of potential. Ward played above his weight and was able to make several plays against the best receiver in the game. Myles Garret was well...amazing.

We shall see....Gonna be real interesting to see this play out during the year. I don't think this is a playoff team but I do think it will be an interesting watch this season.

I dont think people are giving Myles enough credit. He was absolutely dominating a pro bowl level LT. Like he absolutely crushed his soul. Straight Sheng Tsung his soul.

That may be the DPOY if he keeps that up.
