Week 1 (9/11): Browns @ Eagles [1:00 PM EST, CBS]

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I guarantee you the list of good players we've passed on- at just about every position- is a hell of a lot longer.

I get your point, a good QB alone isn't bringing us a winning team. But, hey, how is a poor organization with nothing to offer going to attract people here to do that job?

It's no secret this team misses on a ton of players. @The Wizard of Moz said it wouldn't have hurt for a little lady luck to have fallen in this pitiful team's lap at least.

But I think this might all be irrelevant. We might finally actually have someone that at least has a clue of what he's doing. I think Hue can deliver eventually. Like I stated, it was bound to uglier before it gets better first though. This year won't tell us anything though.

Bright spot of the game was Carl Nassib looked really, really good.

Remember though, the problem is they haven't been bad enough.

The Eagles didn't win because they had the better QB today.

They won because their franchise has been drafting good, quality players since 1999. They're able to have a bad stretch or two because of the consistent good drafts that franchise has had.

So you can slot in Carson Wentz, Brandon Weeden or whichever dipshit you want and they'll be fine.

Same with the Steelers, Same with the Ravens, Same with the Bengals...same with the Patriots.

The same cannot be said about the Browns....Who have consistently sucked in drafting in that department.

The Browns missed on guys, hardly news. But we needed the obvious names so the Browns were forced not to screw it up.

We can't even hit on centers and tackles, it'd take a miracle for them to hit on a QB in the later rounds.

I actually think Hue has a clue what he's doing FWIW. That's a mile upgrade compared to the past, even if in the end he just ends up being marginally good at what he does.

I think Hue does know what he is doing but I think he has to realize he can't keep going for the home run ball just for the sake of the defense, otherwise they will get gassed. Just getting the ball into the hands of our playmakers will help alot, being able to pick up 5 or 6 yards and get a first down. RG3 has to work on his touch on short passes.

Those are RG3's limits more than anything. Check down QB, or deep ball. He's not very good standing in the pocket and making accurate intermediate throws. Not good when the pocket breaks down and he can't immediately escape the pressure.

He mechanics in the pocket are terrible.

I know RG3 is fast, but his footwork and movement in the pocket is God awful. He's just not good enough. Having just a blessed arm doesn't get it done at this league.

What was the point of the Browns talking about how they didn't think Carson Wentz was any good during the week leading up to the game?

It still baffles me why they did that.... on multiple occasions.

Browns defense or not, he was pretty impressive.
He made - maybe - 4 good throws. He had about 3 or 4 bad throws where he got bailed out. He OVERTHREW a screen and got a tipped completion. The Browns refused to cover Zack Ertz in the flat for a whole half.

He wasn't good. He was just going against a JV defense.

Gary Barnidge sucked when he was mentioned, wasn't noticeable otherwise

So that had to be the Browns best shot at a win this season, right?

Is there a worse projected opponent than a rookie QB's first start with a new coaching staff?

The Bills are coached by Rob and Rex Ryan.

Ravens kinda suck.

True RG3 deep ball is basically his only strength especially if they arent going to design runs for him. Without a running game of some sort (QB or RB), they need to find something else to hang their hat on. It can't be deep ball or nothing, if it is might as well just go to Mccown.

I'm just not looking forward to the sports media in this town following this loss.

When they announced Wentz was starting? I just got the vibe that I knew exactly what was going to happen, and what the story lines afterwards were going to be.

It's not that I thought he played particularly well, I just knew that the Browns were not ready to play.

The storyline SHOULD be about how much Cam Erving and the offensive line fucking sucks. Nothing more, Nothing less.

But the idiot media in this town will take it as a chance to run another regime out of this town...

I feel like Titans could be winnable with Josh Gordon in the fold.

The Browns did run well this game, unfortunately, after the Erving air mail, we didnt have much of a chance to go back to the running game.

Duke Johnson was eating them alive.

This was extremely skewed by Crow's 3 draws to end the game and Duke's draw on 3rd and 17.

But then again we abandoned the run extremely quickly so i'm not saying we did bad. Just not really enough to make a strong opinion either way IMO
