Week 1 (9/13): Browns @ Jets [1:00 PM EST, CBS]

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
1988. Romo would without a doubt be the best Browns QB since Bernie before he resembled a side of tenderized beef.

Romo had a gunslinger game, par for the course for him. His mistakes and successes control the outcome of the game.

Romo is better than Bernie ever was by a pretty fair margin.

Cardale is at risk of losing his starting job at OSU.

Browns fans are starting the charge to tank the entire season to draft him.

It's a magical feeling to root for this franchise.
I seriously hate most Browns fans, most of them are morons.

All fans are essentially the same. I don't know why people distinguish between fan bases like this.

Their reactions are reflective of the product they are given.

San Antonio Spurs fans would probably seem like much bigger idiots if they were given a Browns quality product year in, year out.

Blame the product, not the consumer.

You're saying the more inferior the product, the less intelligent fans become?

No, he's saying the more outraged and bitter and sick of this shit they become. There is not a very big correlation between intellect and the amount of bitter posts you make on a sports forum.

Strongly disagree.

The more worked up you get, the more likely you are to say shit that is stupid and irrational.

Game threads are the perfect example of that. Each one has become it's own social experiment.

Someone should show them to @Real Deal's therapist.

That's a low blow, dude. 100% of the moderation I've had to do in Browns threads the past month include needling posts like this from you before it goes personal and unreadable. Take that stuff down a notch please.

rofl.

Sure, I agree with that, but saying dumb shit when upset is not a mark on intelligence level either.

For the record I agree the Cardale thing is insane. (Should be talking about Goff :D )

I've noticed this "social experiment" line is a bit you've been pushing on here for a while. How's the reception been?

Regardless, I'm not expecting intelligent discourse in the middle of a game thread. And neither are you. The thread is reflective of the action of the game. Everyone in there knows that, including you.

If you want intelligent discourse, you're intelligent enough to locate the areas on the board where to find it. You'll needle there as well because that's your bit, but I'm in it for whatever generates conversation. Pretentious or not. That's the advantage of not being a moderator.

If you want to measure the intelligence of a fan base, you can measure the IQ and college education within a certain area. But even then, good luck. You're talking about massive amounts of people from all over the country that are likely at their most emotional at any given time they're reacting to the sporting event. Reactions to sports events aren't based in intellectualism or intelligence level. They're largely based in emotional release, because that's what a lot of people are into the sport for in the first place. If you're expecting people to make incredibly intelligent decisions when they're in their emotional zone and adrenaline is rushing, perhaps you should go hang out on a board designed for fighter pilots and generals.

Perhaps caring about professional sports is the mistake that all fans share from the beginning.

Here you go @AZ_

San Francisco is known as the most intelligent area in the nation. I linked you to last year's football season from December 2014:
http://www.49erswebzone.com/forum/niners/page22/

Here are some thread titles:

"Why not Holmgren?"
"Do we win another game this season?"
"Harbozo, Roman Noodles, Bangio"
"The curse of Santa Clara"
"My recourse if 49ers suck" (for the record his recourse is to not buy anything 49ers related)
"Harbaugh should send Kap to Siberia this week"
"Eric Mangini to become Head Coach"
"How to sabotage a season by Jim Harbaugh"

Sounds brilliant.

Romo also saw every single Giants blitz coming and changed the play almost perfectly every time. Last time you thought a Browns QB could do that?

He's a veteran QB that's played 10 years. Not exactly surprising a veteran QB can change out of plays better than the inexperience shit we put at the position.

Keys is dead on. Tony Romo has looked like a different QB, ever since they upgraded the line significantly.

He's a good QB, don't get me wrong, but a great offensive line has, and will always been a QB's best friend. They'd take that any day over weapons at receiver and running back.

Just look at Peyton yesterday. He still has a shit load of talent at receiver, and running back. His line is breaking down and he couldn't do shit yesterday.

He didn't exactly play well himself.

Anyone that wants to know how important an offensive line is in football though, just watch that game from both perspectives of the QB's playing in that game.

Flacco was on his back majority of the game.

If you're going to sit there and tell me I'm the only one "needling" people, then I'm beginning to think it's become more a personal issue you have with me.

I'd prefer you moderate all of it or none of it, but to single me out is hilariously off base.

I am just guessing here but it could be something to do with you being the only person on this site that comes off as unlikable 100% of the time. Again, that's just a guess.
