WEEK 1: Browns @ Ravens

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I still think we made the right choice with KevinS.
I liked a lot of what I saw today. Unfortunately, QBs make and break a lot of coaches. Hope he gets a real chance.

He better get multiple years. He didn’t pick the QB, wether he liked him or not. If Baker flames out, I don’t really think they can wait. Not in a draft year with Lawrence, Fields and Lance. You have to course correct quickly if you miss on a #1 overall QB.

I don’t think a rookie HC should be calling the plays. Chubb and Hunt with 23 combined carries is simply not enough. Hell, Josh Jacobs carried it 25 times today. Understand the strength of your team and call your game accordingly. I like KS, but he had a bad day.

No offense to you Brown fans, but this is almost certainly the case. I’ll be really surprised if Burrow is worse than Mayfield. Sure he had a great rookie season but Mayfield is now mediocre at best. Your team has so much offensive talent. Great running backs, great receivers, etc. But it all means squat with a shaky qb. And you def have a shaky qb right now.

None taken. Baker is out of excuses and out of chances. This team has as much talent on the offensive side of the ball as any team in the league, and they managed to score six points today. Even against a good defense, that's inexcusable.

He either shows up or he needs to sit on the bench.

It’s the result of getting behind script. If we wanted any chance, for better or worse, we had to open up a bit. I don’t think there’s a scenario where we can win as a run first team once you get down 2-3 scores early. Just is what it is.

The run ball approach doesn't work as well when your defense is this bad. Ravens were ungodly efficient and noticeably faster than this replacement level defense.

Mayfield was bad. He needs to up his game because I don't think Stefanski will hesitate to go to Keenum. OTOH there's really no helping this awful defensive back 7 this year. We will struggle to stop anyone.

This teams as alot of talent with playmakers on the offense. There is no reason to put this much on Baker at the start of the season. The coaches should be being creative in trying to get the ball into guys hands and not rely on Baker to drop back so much. Raven showed alot of misdirection which help them on offense, with the weapons we have that kind of misdirection should be easy.

Absolutely. I keep thinking about Lamar’s rookie year and a little bit his second year. Baltimore designed their offense very creatively so he didn’t have to do anything fancy or put too much pressure on him, and that gave him the time to grow into the dynamic player he is today. They make his job as easy as possible.

On the other hand we were cursed with Baker showing flashes his rookie season, so we took the opposite approach and gave him way more responsibility to make things happen than he was ready for or can handle, and as a result he’s falling flat on his face.

This offense needs to not be so QB reliant until Baker shows he’s capable of it, and Stefanski needs to design the offense appropriately.

Man, really going to feel the overall weakness of the LB corp all season. I expected to surrender this amount of points but I didn’t expect this poor of an offensive output. I wasn’t able to watch the game in it’s entirety, but I saw adequate pass protection in the first half at least.

I really hope Greedy and Kevin Johnson cak give us something this season, but I think the overall defensive is bottom five in points allowed for the year.

Wasn't Keenum in MINN with Stefanski?

I laughed at anyone who thought Baker wasn't a franchise qb but a couple more weeks of this and Keenum will be in.

Also big shout out to my dad for raising me as a fan of this shit franchise. The only positive thing being a Browns fan has done to me is make me a connoisseur of liquors and beer.

Real talk right here.

Zane Gonzalez just popped a 56 yard field goal. There's a lesson in patience in there somewhere.

I know this feels like centuries ago, but during Baker’s rookie year he was way more accurate than he’s been since. Not sure what happened to him.
This is what blows me away. Bad play calling and a shit line are excuses he can take. But where did his accuracy go?

The. League caught up to him. Rex Ryan was right about him.
