Week 10 - DIVISION SHOWDOWN: Browns @ Bengals | Thursday Night Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
No offense, but stop making excuses. The guy said what he fucking said. "Oh no, they're actually worse than I thought." He said it. Period. Same with that Simmons thing we're talking about in Cavs Talk. When you have a mic in your face, watch what you say. Tired of bailing these guys out.
I'm not sure what excuse you think I'm making for the guy. I was just pointing out the not-so-subtle subtext. Sure he said what he said, but I honestly don't see it as a serious dig on the Browns as a guy who wants to bitch about his QB but is to afraid to do so publicly, and obviously not clever enough to do it well subtly.

I'm a season ticket holding Browns fan mind you, and have no allegiance to Jeremy Hill. But that had far less to do with Cleveland than it had to do with Dalton.

"They’re probably worse than I thought, to be honest with you. They didn’t do anything special to me. I mean, respect to them, they won the game. But that’s all I’ll give them,” Hill said, via ESPN.com. “Those guys, they’re not that good. It was on us [Thursday]. We gave them the game, in my opinion. They didn’t do anything special. We just gave them the game."

How exactly is "they're probably worse than I thought... they didn't do anything special.. they're not that good" not a serious dig on the Browns?

Guys, c'mon, he was an athlete at an SEC school, he's probably not educated enough to form sentences illustrating what he truly mean.

Thank you Jeremy Hill for giving us bulletin board material for the rest of the season and especially for our next game against the Bengals.
Bulletin board material exists for fans only, Whitner squashed any thought Greg Little's toothless claims drove the Browns to try harder.

Whitner is gonna destroy him next game haha

Jeremy Hill needs to learn the meaning of the metaphor: Don't poke the bear.

And by metaphor, I mean don't have butt sex with a big hairy gay man after your team lost.

Buster Skrine was 1 pick away from tying for the Cincinnati lead in receptions...

Well, if Dalton was any good, he'd have gotten Skrine that last reception. :chuckle:

Disagree. Bulletin board material absolutely exists, although that's just my personal opinion. It's like the baseball teams that go, "Oh, we don't look at standings!" or the athletes that say, "Honestly I dont read any stories about myself."

They're lying their asses off.

There's no doubt pro athletes lie to the media, but I still think Greg Little's comments where something the Browns laughed at, not something that made them try any harder. This wasn't even the first time Little tried playing the revenge card on the Browns this year, he was making the same dumb claims when he was a Raider.

IMO the Browns were playing for a shot at leading the division, not to prove some moron a message. Cincinnati has won or shared the past two AFC North titles, beating them in the their building alone is incentive enough for a team to come out strong.

Yeah, in this case I'm sure it wasn't a factor. I was speaking more generally. I think bulletin board material absolutely is used across sports. Sometimes, and players/coaches will never admit it, it actually is personal. Guarantee you Urban was extra satisfied with the huge win vs MSU last night, and not just because it was against a ranked opponent.

Of course Urban was ecstatic we beat MSU last night, they ripped our perfect season away last year. That game had been circled on the calender the day after we lost in Indy, and has been billed as the biggest conference clash since the start of the season.

It's not that uncommon to see players and coaches admit it's personal at the college level though. Look at the Ole Miss/Mississippi State rivalry, each side readily admits they despise the other. We're also part of a rivalry that gets pretty personal at times, the head coaches at OSU and UM won't even mention the other by the right name.

That's college though, I've been speaking about the NFL. I mentioned Donte Whitner's comments, which talk about how professionals approach each game with the same intensity, regardless of what the opponent says to the media prior to the game- what I'm interpreting bulletin board material as. And I just don't think that kind of bulletin board material is very prevalent in the NFL.

I don't think the Little thing made a difference. Little is a clown and barely even an NFL player at this point. I doubt anyone on the Browns was doing anything other than laughing at what Cincy's seventh-string receiver had to say about an impending match-up.

Hill, though, probably legitimately pissed them off. I can see them wanting to pay him back for that.
