Week 2 (9/18): Ravens (1-0) @ Browns (0-1)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Nobody outside of Cleveland will care about that call though. "lol Browns."

No and that's how NFL fans operate. Fucking typical. I already saw the typical garbage from those morons.

In regards to hating the Rats? I think it's justified.

Baltimore got a guy like Ozzie Newsome and a competent NFL staff to put together a consistent winning franchise. They didn't have to try to build a thing over with table scraps and try to make it work. As a result? Those guys get to be the talk of the NFL, get their asses kissed by everyone, and the whole move gets swept under the rug. They get primetime games, they took our "rivalry" with the Steelers, and a they got two Lombardi Trophies as a result.

Their fans are trash too. Let's not kid ourselves. There's a reason the Colts left in the first place.

Contrast that with the Browns. What do we get? 17 years of bad football. I think if the Browns were to win a Lombardi or two? I'd be over it. But until then? Fuck them.

I’m not pissed because I think the Browns contributed more to the loss than anything the refs did

The Browns have to be better than that. They weren’t. So no, I’m not pissed.

Maybe we would have lost, but I hate it when officials decide a game like that. It's bullshit. I'm not going to sit here and pretend like we were awesome or anything.

I felt sucking the last 3/4 of the game played a huge role in the loss. Look, I do think it's great that fans are still furious after a gut-punch loss. It means many of you haven't lost your edge. I just know that young, inexperienced teams playing against veterans who have been to the playoffs year after year - even if the Ravens are at the end of their run - is bound to be a huge disadvantage. The mistakes are infuriating, but part of the growth process. As much as I hated the Erving plan and his mistakes this year... this is what Cleveland has now. He's raw, but the potential is there. This won't be easy. Easy would have been retaining Mack even if he had a foot out the door for three prior years. It's going to be hard... but if the Browns can get a young core up to speed, this team can finally shake off a decade of bandaids.

It's just frustrating to me because I saw some light today, I saw some promise and I was really hoping the players that actually you know...tried would have been rewarded for their effort.

Coleman looked amazing, as did Crowell. Pryor would have had a clutch catch of all catches had he not been given the worst ticky-tack call I've ever seen.

McCown showed a lot of heart too. If Johnny Manziel would have had his attitude? We'd not be talking about drafting a QB. In fact, I want to see him on this staff or on this team for quite some time.

Defense looked better. I saw players all over Flacco all day. I saw Haden look vintage today.

Special Teams was garbage, but I didn't feel like they cost us the game. It just felt like towards the 3rd and 4th quarter every time McCown would get a big play? It'd be called back. It was absurd.

I want to see a team like this get rewarded for balling out. That's all I ask. I hope the media gets wise and doesn't blame the team on this loss.

Pryor got a taunting call for giving the ball to ref, meanwhile Steve Smith got nothing for this:

Browns just scored a touchdown and went up 20-0 and I suggested we switch to the cowboys game cause nothing good was gonna happen after that.

Next play was a PAT for a safety.. then you had the interception that led to a Ravens touchdown at the end of the half.

It certainly wasn't the officiating that lost this game.

Kessler should of been brought in as soon as Mccowns arm got busted, The guy cant play in pain.

Fortunately for me. we had a few Nascar fans at the house so I didn't have to watch the second half.

Guys on Around the Horn killing the refs for that bullshit taunting penalty on Pryor.

Edit: PTI guys agree it's bullshit

I am just speaking in general, I hate it when the refs decide any game. Whether it'd be the Browns, or some team I have no interest it. Especially an absolutely BS call like that.

If this game meant something, and it were the post-season? I think I'd explode.

Not making the case we deserved to win, or even would have. Goodell needs to clean up the league in general. The amount of flags we see is pretty preposterous. It's making the games become a cluster fuck fest to watch.

I know bad calls are frustrating, because it seems like something was robbed from the Browns unjustly. I just have a different approach to this season. I could literally care less if the team wins or loses this season. Like natedagg was saying in in the Tank thread, my interest lies purely in the development of the young core they assembled. If Corey Coleman makes the jump we saw Sunday, that means more. I thought Nate Orchard played his best game as a Brown. The only other time I felt this disconnection to the win/loss column was the 2011 Cavaliers and the time I got into minor league baseball.

I totally get where you are coming from with the premise "if this game meant something..." but luckily for the Browns, wins and loses really don't mean much. I'd also argue that there have been consistently bad calls in football for decades, but now with the high tech cameras, HD and 360 coverage, fans at home just see it more clearly.

Oh I agree, us losing technically was better. So I really wasn't upset over the loss itself.

But we got to live with these same incompetent officials going forward when we are good. Of course unless we're on the 50 year plan. :)

I know officials aren't perfect and make mistakes. But these blatant mistakes seem more common in the NFL than other sports to me. Too many rules making things too confusing.

Every single year it seems someone gets screwed badly out of the playoffs off a pretty blatantly missed call.
