Week 2: Bengals @ Browns

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not sure how the Browns can right all the wrongs from 4 days ago. Should be able to squeak it out based on the gap in talent between the teams.

17-16 Browns and we'll feel no different about them than we do today.

If Joey outplays Baker at home with these defenses then I’m all aboard the Case Keenum train within the next few weeks.

Case could lead us to .500 I believe.

I just hope both teams have fun.

With Hue no longer being part of either team, this game has nothing to interest me.

When Hue was part of the team I watched for the schadenfreude of wanting to watch the team get its ass kicked worse and worse each week knowing it was already going to lose. Simply because I knew it would lie at his and management’s feet.

Once the Browns appeared to be good, Hue being on the other team made it fun to beat the shit out of them.

Now that the Browns are anywhere from mid 90s Bears to mid 10’s Lions depending on what Baker is...they’re potentially just a boring team with some star quality guys languishing on a team that doesn’t deserve them.

Let’s see if they can go 8-8.

I hope the outcome is settled early enough that I can go to bed at a decent hour. If I have to stay up till midnight, I am gonna be pissed.

I have no idea how Cincy is +6.....what does Vegas know? That is a shocking line to me.

Stefanski's system still isn't installed, Mayfield just isn't very good, and Browns defense isn't in the same stratosphere as the Chargers and their pass-rush (I say this because Burrow looked like a rookie against Chargers, but the Chargers have an elite D-line and very good linebackers. The Browns have Myles Garrett and mostly trash as pass rushers. And the worst LB unit in the league).

I'm perplexed. Normally when you see a line that makes no sense, it's best to stay away. I'd maybe have the Browns -2.5 or 3, but realistically, I think it's a pick-em game.

Bengals arent that good??? That would be my reason for spotting them 6.

Quick Breakdown of Burrows game (eye test here for anyone unable to watch):
-14 passes were targeting a receiver 5 yards or less, with many of them being screens or measly 3 yard throws. Only 2 of those netted a play longer than 5 yards
-7 throws over 5 yards. 1 was almost picked & one was a diving catch.
- 1 Fumble, 2 almost fumbles, and 1 near fumble in the backfield
- Chargers played 3-4 rushers almost the entire second half
- Our "shitty defense" isnt great but had bad field position most of the game. They did have that 1 99 yard drive, but they also had 5-6 drives under 25 yards.

Bengals are bad...really bad. We should run it all over them at minimum. Hopefully that opens up the passing game for us to build some confidence.

I'm not trying to make it argumentative....

I agree the Bengals aren't good.......but neither are the Browns. I guess that's why 6 feels like so much to me. And I don't expect Burrow to look like an All-Pro tonight, but it's going to be a helluva lot easier than facing Bosa and Melvin Ingram, and the LB's they bring pressure with. We aren't there at all....not with talent or scheme.

I'm not saying the Browns get blown out or even lose. I just think the game is a pick-em. Haven't put any money on it yet, but probably will......

I have zero faith in Baker. I cringe every time he throws the ball in fear of an interception.

I hope for a win.

This is where I'm at.

Think the Browns won't look any better, but will manage to win solely based on the talent gap. And nobody will feel good about it.

Also think it's very, very possible the Bengals win this game. I agree with @billmac91 - the spread should be under 3, if not a pick em.

I'm not there yet, but getting there, sadly.

I’m just done. Ready to get a QB in here and win. Where is the progression? Dude still can’t just check down and take what the defense gives. Locks on receivers etc. I just don’t see it anymore.

And I honestly don’t blame everything on Baker either. I blame Haslam. He ruined Baker and now it’s time to move on and let Kevin Stefanski pick his guy.

Unless Baker slowly brings 2018 back. Do whatever you can to get Fields/Lawrence in here and move on like the Cardinals and Phins did.

Oh I knew you weren't arguing. Sorry if my response came off dickish.

My point is basically even on their best day the Bengals have limited upside. Our team does have the talent to boat race someone....we just haven't done it yet.
