Week #2 - Texans - The Return of Tyrod

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Show of hands from the "OBJ and Landry will be cap casualties in 2022" crowd...

... still on that hill or going for a little hike?

I definitely think OBJ will be a cap casualty.

I'm not sure, other than people simply wanting it to work, what on-field evidence we have that OBJ is needed in Cleveland, or that he even helps the team?

Rushing attack with his presence was otherworldly prior to his injury last season. His presence also allows for other options to get more open quickly.

At this point, I'm ready for Jarvis to retire a Brown, but I do think his deal will get re-structured at some point.

I don't think OBJ will be here beyond this season.

not the time for this discussion, but this offseason the browns will have to make the Landry decision. His cap hit for next year would be 16.5 million (its 14.5 this year), or they can cut him and it costs 1.5 in dead space. My hope is they can restructure him and bring him down to the 12-13 range. I know others want it lower, but with a huge jump in cap this offseason I see crazy numbers getting thrown his way.

Well they're currently 3rd in the league in rushing so far this year and averaging over 5 yards a carry.

And even still, if those are the selling points, that's not enough to warrant his contract cost. You pay a guy #1 WR money to catch the football first and foremost.

If OBJ does suit up this weekend, it's going to be a blast. I think most fans have forgotten the impact he brings. They remember Baker force-feeding him in double coverage and forget what his double coverage does for the rest of the offense.

If i am another team i dont start to double team him until he proves he needs it. He hasnt been the absolute stand out stud WR since he left NY.

And if they don't double him, that's just fine with me. He is still a starting level wide receiver even if his knee isn't quite 100%.

Baker is a different quarterback since OBJ got hurt. If you told me before that Cincinnati game that Baker would go an entire half only targeting backs and tight ends and the Browns still drove down the field to score three times, I wouldn't believe you.
