Soak it in Browns fans! We are sitting atop the AFC North! The Browns, who are coming off their biggest win of the young 2019 season, will travel across the country for a Monday Night showdown against the undefeated San Francisco 49ers. The offense had their best performance after being criticized by everyone in the media and the fan base. That included a former coach, who Baker made him put his foot in his mouth. With the 49ers coming off a bye, the Browns will have a tall task ahead of them. Let’s dive into the keys to coming out with a win.

  1. Stay at full Chubb - In only his second year, Nick Chubb continues to prove to be one of the most important players on this team. Putting up 165 yards with 3 TD’s against the Ravens. The Browns are 4-1 when Chubb rushes for 100+ yards, the only loss coming against the Raiders in week 4 of 2018. He had 3 carries for 105 yards. Pounding the rock is the key to any offense to keep the defense on its heels. But with Chubb, the home run threat is always there. And it actually helps Mayfield out too. “Mayfield used play-action 23.3 percent of the time (65 drop backs) over the final half of last season. And it helped. His completion percentage was 73.3 percent on play-action passes (fourth best in the NFL), compared to 67.2 percent without it” (Cleveland.com - Scott Patsko).

  1. Neutralize Nick Bosa - The #2 pick of the 2019 draft is off to somewhat of a quiet start on the stat sheet, but his presence on the field is noticeable. Only 1 sack to start the year, but he has 4 QB hits. A preseason ankle injury has slowed him down, but with a bye week to rest some more. Let’s hope this isn’t his coming out party. Greg Robinson is up for a long night going against the youngest Bosa. Robinson was credited with the only sack allowed during the Baltimore game, but had the highest run blocking grade on the offensive line 71.2 (Pro Football Focus). If Robinson can neutralize Bosa, Baker will continue to feel more comfortable and not rushed in the pocket.

  1. Closing Time - Before the Ravens game, the Browns seemingly disappeared in the 4th quarter. In the first 3 games, they were outscored 30-0 in the final frame. They scored 16, which included Nick Chubb’s 88 yard TD run. The defense seemed to play with a little carefree once the game was out of hand. Which allowed Lamar Jackson to pad his stats and give people more ammo to prove he’s better than he is as a passer. If Freddie and the offense continue to build off the momentum from last week, we should see some more points put up. On the road, against an undefeated team, you’ll need all the points you can get.

The Browns may have more talent, but we are still trying to put everything together. Hopefully, September was an additional preseason for the starters and we can get on a roll into our toughest stretch of games. The one thing that will help a groggy Tuesday morning will obviously be a Browns win. But the one thing I will not be able to help you out with? The nightmares you’ll have after listening to Booger McFarland try to grasp the English language for 3+ hours.

Remember when people said Nick Bosa was the best EDGE of the draft class and Brian Burns wasn't a top 5 prospect?

Always been a fan of Nick but I even thought Chase Young flashed more than him last year when Nicky B was healthy. I still think he will be a stud in the league - was just hit with some untimely injuries.

Jimmy G will be a tougher matchup than Lamar. Gotta get pressure on him early.

Jarvis is cleared to practice...so we got that going for us now.
Damn..I can't believe. Great to hear for the offense. Right up there with game 1 for the most talent we've had available all year (added Callaway, lost Njoku),

A few issues here: you are comparing an OLB for the 3-4 with a true 4-3 anchor DE. It's apples and oranges as schemes go. Additionally, keep an eye on Bosa as he recovers from a high ankle sprain from a month ago. I obviously don't need to explain how long it takes to recover from a high ankle sprain.

So, good for Burns but the post may age poorly.
