Week 6: seabirds at Browns

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The trade hasn’t looked good, but Zeitler hasn’t been great in New York either so far.

Vernon has been unexpectedly brutal, but this is true. In general, the Browns need another good draft to address roster holes that we should have seen coming. They tried making a lot of value trades for offensive line depth knowing they were exposing Baker to a thin group this season.

It wasn't a scoring play or turnover, therefore it has to be challenged.

First it was called a touchdown by the sideline official. So scoring play.

Then there was a huddle and it was determined to be a fumble, but led to a turnover on downs.

So yeah I see a reason it should have been reviewed.

Vernon has been a net zero, so Zeitler would have to be next level bad to not be an improvement from a wins added perspective.

I agree.

The Browns lost a close game to a pretty good team.

Never nice to lose, but they played pretty decent compared to last week against a pretender of a team.

Too many mistakes again, but the talent is there.

I pray, for all our sakes, that Freddie figures it the fuck out the next couple weeks.

Or, he might just get fingered.

And of all the fucking coaches to come around the past years, he might be the most deserving since this team hasn't had this much talent since 1986.

That’s the thing though. This shouldn’t have been a close game at all. Browns should’ve been up at least 11 at half. Realistically they blew a number of opportunities to push the lead out in the first half and it ultimately cost them the game.

Given Dorsey’s record of talent acquisition on the offensive line here in Cleveland, I don’t feel good about their prospects when it comes to drafting and developing players there.

Not really true, Kush has been good, not quite as good as Zietler, but he is above average starter so far. Its our tackles that have been bad, and allot of the interceptions are just on Baker to be honest.

James Campen is one of the most respected OL position coaches in the game, and he will be on hand this time around for the draft process. He has an outstanding track record developing linemen, including JC Tretter who has been very good this season. I'm more optimistic.

BTW - Niners are spanking the Rams right now. Too bad we couldn't have played the Rams after Matthews got hurt.

We will see. If Baker continues to take hits like he has (partly his fault for holding onto the ball too damn long), the Browns might be looking for a new QB to protect. I would love to see where Chris Hubbard ranks among all tackles.

Please.

Who is out there? I fear we’ll be stuck with Freddie. Do you throw 10M @ Lincoln Riley?

Dorsey can still steer this ship right. Fire Freddie. Promote Monken. Get a new HC.
I just hope our star players don't get disgruntled and want to leave before then.

I also think Dorsey needs to not try to tinker with the skill position players around Baker. Let Baker build some chemistry with his receivers. Outside of Landry, Baker really hasn't had anyone who has been consistently available to him. The TE group is currently completely different than last year. They got rid of Duke late in training camp to throw Hillard into the 3 down back role. OBJ didn't really participate in training camp or preseason. Higgins got hurt early in the season and Callaway was suspended.

Keep this group and work Ratley in alittle more. Maybe it's time to cut bait with Taywan Taylor and maybe find someone who can contribute for the rest of the season.

No picks, no fumbles, we win this game.. we are playing sloppy top to bottom.. I will remind everybody this exactly was predicted. New team, new Coach new system = mistakes...

There is also an argument that with our two best corners healthy we win in spite of those mistakes..

Freddie is in the fire now. He has to learn to pee in the tall grass..

Be honest, are you watching the game or just box score watching?

How anybody can blame that on Baker is beyond me.

watched the whole game.

baker continuously throws behind receivers on slants/outs/crossing routes.

he doesn’t make anyone’s life easier, and while they should be caught, dude misses way too frequently to constantly get cut slack on these drop picks.

While I personally hope to see the replacements for Robinson and Hubbard drafted next year, let's get some perspective. Today they faced Zeke Ansah and Javeon Clowney. Last week they played a Niners defensive front that just demolished a Sean McVey offense today. They are brutally average, but their opponent's have been exceptional recently. It's a tough stretch of the season for the line. I hope they look better after the bye. I'm hopeful some of these penny stocks like Wyatt Teller or Forbes can put something impressive together when given a chance.

No doubt about it. The Browns have played possibly the toughest schedule in the NFL so far.

Ultimately, I think they still finish .500 or better, even with their crummy line, but it all depends on execution and coaching. This is a team that would be 4-2 right now if they weren’t severely lacking in either.
