Week 8: Browns @ Patriots

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Absolutely astounding gameday thread, Simmy.

Couple of things in this game to ponder pregame:

-Patriots stats are a little misleading. The best QB they have faced was probably Big Ben. They have been fortunate to play a lot of bad teams.

-Despite it being only the Jets, the Pats did play monday night. A short week might effect non-Brady players.

-The Pats have an amazing offensive line. They are the best coached group in the NFL and allow for Brady to continue to keep playing. That being said, they get the ball out quick and dont rely on deep shots. Dont let the secondary get Greggggggg'd

-Patriots are something like 22-1 in home October games with Brady.

Patriots don't have the names, but there defense is playing in a whole different world right now. Its going to take a level of play by Baker that we havent seen in his career in order to win this game.

All that to say, man....I dont see this one ending favorably for the Browns.

I don't know why some of the defenders arent more nationally recognized on the Patriots.

Their secondary is lights out and for my money Stephon Gilmore is the best CB in the league.

They've been dominant. This is the NFL, bad competition, or not. This has never been done in NFL history, defensively, especially in the pass happy rules favor the QB league.

But obviously the stats are misleading given the competition. That said, they are really, really good on that side of the ball.

It's scary, because the Patriots are no longer carried by Tom Brady. The great defense is carrying them, and Tom Brady is basically just turned into a super game manager that doesn't have to do that much.

I see no way the Browns win this game. I just hope we make it interesting, and I don't even expect that. I think we get beat down, badly.

Living in Boston and hearing about how Baker has no chance against the Pats defense is getting old already.

You play the games for a reason. ILL just but Wisconsin last weak, yes its college, but that is a bigger spread than any NFL game at 30 points.

If a 30 point underdog can win, any given Sunday anything can happen. I mean the Browns are 12.5 point Dogs which is huge for the NFL, but almost a third of ILL VS Wisconsin.

Book it, we rip them a new one on Sunday. God, if this team ever cleans up their act and stops the mental midgetism , they’d be particularly hard to beat.
Im saying it starts on Sunday and gives them the much needed confidence required to go on a nice run

The 2001 Pats have come full circle by having a defense operate as a team rather than by big names, like when the whole team ran out together in that season's Super Bowl against the Rams of all teams.

The "against garbage offenses" line is easily debunked by this tweet:

Tony "Fullback" Grossi is misleading with his hot take about "jAmIe cOlLiNs dAnNy sHeLtOn n mCcOuRtY wErE oN Oh-N-16," whatever he's trying to imply with that, because the defense and in particular the front 7 were definitely not the problems with that team.

We’re winning this one boys!!!
Would be awesome, but I can't help Baker is headed to the same type of stat line as the previous QBs the Pats faced.

Will be <100 yards passing before the prevent defenses kick in , like the Heinz Field game last year that finally got Huey fired.

Of course, they can survive minimal passing production if Chubb can steamroll Shelton...

Only chance browns have is to stick to the running game and use it for play action.

If they go in there trying to sling the ball around they are asking to be destroyed

We're not winning this game. And I'm fine, if someone wants to come back and laugh at this post - if we some how do.

Even if we play great, maybe our greatest game of the year, we'll lose. They are UNBEATABLE there. I'd give us a small chance if it were in Cleveland.

Outside the fact they're so dominant at home, this is just a horrific mismatch.

Baker is going to have to beat Belichick at chess, good luck... With the best secondary in football, that will dare/trick Baker into making tons of mistakes.

Our only advantage at all, is running the ball with Chubb, eating clock, and using Baker very sparingly. If we just have him sit back, and start throwing, we will get destroyed. If Chubb has a huge game, we can control the clock, and let Baker play almost only off play action. We might keep the game interesting.

When I say interesting, losing by 10 points or something like that.

Our defense is very undisciplined, although talented, I just think Brady is going to eat us the fuck up.

I think we get beat by 30 plus points. Anything less, is a happy moral win for me.

Bill Belichick will run laps around Quarter Pounder and Cheese.

I also think the Patriots D will make Baker and our offense look silly. Truth be told I’d rather be playing any other team this week after the bye besides the Pats.

I expect this to be a frustrating game with a clear loss, and I hope to be proven wrong.
