Through five weeks, can anyone honestly tell me if there is a single good team in the AFC North? The Browns crushed the Ravens and limped to victory against the lowly Jets, but are coming fresh off a prime time ass-whooping at the hands of the still undefeated 49ers. The Ravens beat two of the worst teams in football and the Steelers, who might suck. The Steelers lone win came against another of the worst teams in the NFL, the sad sack Bengals. About the only team I am sure on is the Bengals, and I am sure they blow.

So much has changed in a year. The once-mighty Ravens defense is in shambles. The potent Browns offense of last season's second half is nowhere to be found this year, at least outside of the Ravens massacre (which was a garbage time score away from being a 22 point victory). The Steelers are stumbling onward without Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, or Le'Veon Bell, their three franchise mainstays of the past half-decade. The Bengals suck. Well, okay, not everything has changed.

The rest of this season is going to be very interesting for this once-mighty division. The Browns are 2-3 but still absolutely have a shot to win it, as does every other team but the Bengals. The outcomes of the divisional games are going to be huge for the eventual division winner.

But now it's time for this week's waiver targets.

---

Waiver Wire QB Targets:

Gardner Minshew, QB JAC - Minshew continues to impress as the quarterback of the Jags, and has been remarkably consistent as a fantasy player, scoring between 18 and 25 points in every game thus far this season. His next four games come against teams that are all in the bottom half of the league in giving up points to fantasy quarterbacks.

Kirk Cousins, QB MIN - Cousins has probably long since been dropped in your league, and with good reason. However, if Minnesota continues to throw the ball in an effort to keep their two star receivers happy, he could be a nice pick-up to cover a bye week as he takes on a bad Eagles secondary this week.

Sam Darnold, QB NYJ - Darnold returns from his brief bout with mono this week, and you definitely shouldn't be adding him as a streaming option given the upcoming schedule where he faces off against the Cowboys and Patriots. However, he might be worth a speculative add based on just how good he was to end last season. If you've got an extra roster spot in a deeper league and your QB situation isn't ideal, he's an option.

---

Waiver Wire RB Targets:

Jon Hilliman, RB NYG - With Saquon Barkley likely still out and Wayne Gallman in concussion protocol, it's next man up in New York! I honestly didn't even know John Hilliman existed until Sunday, but any starting RB is worth an add in fantasy.

Chase Edmonds, RB ARI - Edmonds has seen an increase in each of the past three weeks. While I don't imagine David Johnson misses any time with the back injury he's been dealing with, Edmonds is at least worth looking into. He's a good pick up in deeper leagues if you're weak at RB.

---

Waiver Wire WR Targets:

Keke Coutee, WR HOU - Coutee finally had a decent game on Sunday against the Falcons, and if Kenny Stills misses more time, he could be in line for another solid performance when the Texans face off against the Chiefs this weekend.

Robby Anderson, WR NYJ - Anderson has likely been dropped in a lot of leagues, which just seems like madness to me given the pick you likely invested to draft him. He's been without starting quarterback Sam Darnold for weeks now and has faced an absolutely brutal slate of opposing cornerback match-ups. Darnold returns this week, and while it might be a few weeks before Anderson pays true dividends, I'd be grabbing him before it's too late.

Preston Williams, WR MIA - Williams is an intriguing option in leagues where you really need a bye week fill-in, as the Dolphins match up against the lowly Redskins secondary in what will undoubtedly be an unwatchable mess. I wouldn't be bothering with him unless you actually need a spot starter, though. The Dolphins don't get to play the Skins every week, after all.

Byron Pringle, WR KC - Pringle blew up on Sunday night with Sammy Watkins inactive. If Watkins misses any more time, Pringle is absolutely worth a start in fantasy, although he will likely lose all of his value when Watkins returns.

Zay Jones, WR OAK - Jones was just traded to a receiver-needy Raiders team. He probably won't produce right away, but he's worth a speculative add in deeper leagues.

---

Waiver Wire TE Targets:

Chris Herndon. TE NYJ - Herndon returns from his four-game suspension this weekend, and many owners have likely forgotten all about him. Don't be one of them, as he played very well last year and could absolutely continue that this season.

Gerald Everett, TE LAR - Everett has seen his targets spike considerably the past two weeks. It's impossible to know if that is a blip or a trend at this point, but he's a nice option if your team is really hurting at TE.

I'll be back on Thursday night with this week's Start/Sit column.

I'm pretty much in full blown panic mode right now with my roster. I'm sitting at 1-4 and I've fallen off pretty hard in total points (down to 7th out of 12), so now I can't say that my bad record is solely bad luck anymore.

Problem with my league is nobody likes to trade at all, so most changes have to be done on the waiver wire. With Mack on bye, I just threw down a large chunk of my waiver money on Hilliman.

Man that is the panic move of panic moves

Who else is on your roster? Because I’m gonna be honest, Barkley has been rumored to be back after the Pats game and I’m sure it’s likely Gallman will be too

So you’re essentially paying big chunk of dough for a 1 week starting RB against the patriots in New England. The spread is 17!

Unless he’s heavily involved as a pass catcher I think he’s going to be a near lock for under 5 points. And even then I think over 5 is asking a lot. Couldn’t draw up a worse matchup

My other RBs are White and Hyde (since Mack is on bye). I kind of misspoke when I said "big chunk", but I did put down $15 of the $100 on him as an insurance policy just to make sure that I have a third guy, and maybe a potential starting option depending on what happens with Giants practice this week or if White/Hyde are dinged up.

As of right now, my depth chart is:
QB - Watson, Cousins
RB - Mack*, White, Hyde, J. Wilson (would be cut)
WR - Thomas, Smith-Schuster, Chark, Diggs, Fuller, Dorsett
TE - McDonald, Graham
DEF - Packers
K - Tucker

We start QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, DEF, K.

I'm annoyed that I am pretty stacked at WR but nobody trades in this league, so I haven't been able to get a good second running back to put with Mack. I snagged Hyde kind of early on, and White has been pretty mediocre in our league's scoring.

Hilliman had a 9% target share in college, which is above average. He can definitely function as a pass catcher, and will probably need to given the match-up. Plus, they don't really have anyone else and I can't imagine they'll rush Barkley back for this particular match-up.

I wouldn't expect a huge game from him or anything, but he could have some value in PPR formats if you're desperate.

So, someone in my league wants to trade me for George Kittle. Here’s what I have:

QB - Russell, Rivers
RB - Johnson, Cook, Singletary, Hunt
WR - OBJ, Moore, Tyrell Williams, McLaurin, Valdez-Scantling (trying to pick up Kirk and/or Diggs)
TE - Kittle, Hockenson
K - Lutz
D/ST - LAC, CLE (trying to pick up BUF)

Here’s his roster:

QB - Brady
RB - Carson, Jacobs, White, Edmonds, Hilliman
WR - Hopkins, Evans, Chark, Edelman, Dorsett, Landry, Watkins
TE - Everett
K - Nugent
D/ST - LAR

We play QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, FLEX, K, and D/ST.

Is there really anything on his roster that I could/should realistically trade? At this point, I’m probably just looking for more depth, as my WR play is somewhat inconsistent from week to week and I don’t have much depth behind my two starting RBs.

ETA: Should also mention that I’m 3-2 (with two VERY tough luck losses) and have scored the third most points in the league.

Don't trade Kittle. You are set up well.

Now that Chris Herndon has likely been ruled out for the next two weeks with a hamstring injury, another TE you might look to if you're in need is Geoff Swaim (Jacksonville). With starter James O'Shaughnessy out for the rest of the season after tearing his ACL last week, Swaim becomes the starting TE. Through the first 5 weeks, Swaim has caught 12-of-15 targets, while O'Shaughnessy 14-of-20 so there could be the potential for solid production at the TE position.

@Jack Brickman, what should I do!?!?!1

Sorry. New girlfriend as of last week so I've been a bit busy. I'll be back tomorrow with the start/sit column and hopefully with regular articles after that. I had plans Thursday night, Friday night, and basically all day Saturday last week so I wasn't able to get to it, and yesterday I was just too fucking burnt out from lack of sleep to do the research for the waiver article.

Get some sleeps! And fluid!

Sorry guys, my power has been out for the past four hours and I wasn't about to do this shit on my phone, so I went to a nearby bar with some friends and just got home. How did we survive in the days before WiFi?

Anyway...

Start:
Damien Williams, Shady, Sutton

I also think Lindsay and Royce Freeman are both solid flex plays, but they're firmly locked in a time share so it's tough to say who will be better tonight.

Sit:
Pretty much everyone else. Need to see Sanders produce again before I confidently start him, as he's been unplayable for several weeks. You're already starting Mahomes and Hill, so no need for me to tell you that.

I'll have the full article out tomorrow or Saturday for this weekend's games.

Christian Kirk @ NYG
Terry McLaurin vs. SF
Auden Tate vs. JAX
Devin Singletary vs. MIA

Need 2 WRs and a flex. What say you, RCF?

Giants have the second worst pass defense in the league, so I'd definitely start Kirk.

Niners have the best pass defense in the league, so McLaurin is probably a boom or bust play depending on how he's covered. He's pretty much the #1 guy on the 'Skins right now though.

Jags have the 15th best pass defense in regards to playing Tate, but the Bengals are just so damn horrible.

Miami's rush defense is second worst in the league in regards to Singletary. but he also hasn't played in a while and is looking to return this week.

If I had to pick here, I'd go:
WR1: Kirk
WR2: McLaurin
FLEX: Tate

Kirk is the 'must play' of that bunch. McLaurin has a terrible matchup, but he's still a #1 receiver and should get targets. I'm going to go with Tate over Singletary solely because I'm not sure how much of an impact Singletary would make his first week back, and Tate figures to get a decent share of targets against an average pass defense with Green & Ross out.

I'm 1-5 in my league though, so maybe do the exact opposite of what I just said.
