Theoretically Ante Zizic

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don’t trust none of the Cavs front office. You traded for Zizic and Zizic got ZERO chance to show anything. He get minutes and play good. I do not understand how all of these coaches couldn’t find a way to use Zizic.
It's very strange, isn't it? The Cavs are a rebuilding team in the very early stages of the rebuild, where developing the young talent you do have should be the major objective. However, they seemingly refuse to give important game experience to the only prospect big they have on the team. It seems very counter-productive to the rebuild.

He is a nice low post scorer. That's about it, but given that the team may very well move on from Love and Tristan, I imagine Zizic will get some game time to improve over the second half of the year.

I understand the clamor of playing Zizic more but he's behind Love, Nance, TT, and Henson who all needs playing time. Maybe this game is an eye opener for Beilien and play him more.

People said this last year too, I have strong doubts.

Why do they need minutes if they take away from giving playing time to the only prospect big we have on the team? If it's for trade value, teams know what all three of those guys provide by now.

Does Zizic deserve minutes over any of those four, though? Frankly, does him getting minutes over any of those four benefit the Cavs in the long-term?

My answer to both questions is a hard "no." But I would also be shocked if more than two of those guys were on the roster after the deadline, which means - unless we get another rotational big in a trade - Zizic will get serious minutes and the team just has to hope he builds on his game.

At the very least they ran the best PnR of the season with him at center and he also seems to be one who can actually PASS out of the damn post. The circumstances aren't ideal, and we know his shortcomings, but I like him on this roster.

I mean the knock is his defense, but who is playing good defense besides Henson? Love is our worst defensive big. TT is close behind

The reality is all those players are not centers..but power forwards being used at the 5 spot.
Zizic is a actual center.
Its one reason the Cavs don't have a post defender because none of those are actually post defenders.
Zi has limits as we have seen..I'm not sure he can get much better , but with some big men it takes years.

I like the team with Zizic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I feel like he makes others around him better with his good screening, angles and size. He gets so much separation for the back handler, and he consistently looks to set flare screens, but the coach really does not run much set plays, so it doesn't come to fruition.
This team will go to the next level once they start running some plays to free the shooters off the ball instead of having them ball watch. And of course having an athletic/great finisher roll man to collapse the D.

They are going to lose zizic after this year and will regret it

I mean if "cavs do everything wrong" you have to question them giving up on him. Bizarre reports of off the court problems. Guy seems to really want to play. I imagine he will get his chance after the Deadline one way or another.

He likes to booze and screw. So do a lot of players and maturity can do wonders in balance. I would sign him to a LTC and make him part of a center rotation for the next couple of years.

I recall a stretch during Lebron's last season with the Cavs where Zizic got some time and was scoring at an effective rate, but in the end it led nowhere. Just looked up the game log for that stretch:

I guess what I'm saying is I wasn't that surprised by what occurred last night, but I am also not even close to sold that Zizic can be an effective NBA player on a night to night basis in today's NBA. Once Henson or Thompson or Love is traded, I agree that he should receive regular playing time, but I am not sure it will lead to much.

15-12-2 on 6/7 shooting in just 24 minutes, after not playing serious minutes in forever. It's not like it was garbage time minutes either he was a big factor in our little comeback. Now Minnesota is far from a good team but still.

There is a common pattern that the more Ante plays the better he does. It's worth giving him playing time just for the ample driving /shooting room his screens provide on offense. On defense, I thought he was actually solid tonight.

I think he can have a role on an NBA team even if it's just as an instant offense bench big. I think we will regret not picking up his option.

Agree he needs playing time but I think our GM has already voted him off the reservation by not picking up his cheap option for next year. Beilein probably doesn't want to play anyone with no future with the team.

Another thing he can do better than Thompson is pass out of the paint when he's surrounded. At least he will try to do it.
