Welcome Brandon Knight

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Is Chriss going to play any PF? That is my question going forward.

Maybe right now till Love comes back. I wouldn't be surprised if they treated him like Dekker. Give him a chance to prove himself and if he can't play just cut him so we can give a G-leaguer a chance.

Pretty sure Derrick Williams is available, and of course Kanter was let go.. we could put together "team 2011 lottery" between Knight, Williams, Kanter & TT.

(In an alternate universe/timeline the Cavs are playing with Irving/Klay T & AD after having won/lost the coin flip in '12.. maybe with or without Lebron..)

Will he get playing time? Maybe he can mentor Sexton, similar body types. I remember a time this guy was actually good.

I'm guessing part of the 3(or 4) guard lineup off the bench.

I wouldn't mind him starting at SG till Cedi is back. Don't think we have to give him starter minutes but it makes the rotations easier so they don't have to go to 3 PGs with the bench unit.

He didn't seem to look to drive at all today. Seem to be happy as a spot up shooter. I think that would be fine for this group right now since we need a spot up shooter. It would also not put any pressure on him and he can move along slowly to regain confidence in his knee.

Think we need to rethink knight. Curious to see how rest of season plays out for him

I think Knight is good on the ball and off the ball. To me I feel like they are almost showcasing him right now. Starting and letting him run the second unit at times.

I actually think a player like Knight is more useful than someone like Clarkson. You can plug him into either guard position either with the starting unit or the bench. He pairs well with most guards.

Good Delly backup and you can let him loose if he gets hot.

He is versatile, and his defense is better than o thought.

Knight provides a pretty solid veteran presence at the guard position, and I think Sexton learns some things just by watching how Knight handles himself out on the floor. Every interview I've seen Knight says the exact right things, reinforcing the messages KLove is putting out.

There are some reasons why the Cavs look so much better recently, and IMO Knight is one of them. The younger players are getting a consistent message from the coaches and enough of the veteran players that it's starting to take hold.

I can see him with a roster spot next year.

I think good fill in for Delly's PG duties is a better to description of what he is doing currently. I think at this moment we have alot of guard that fall into the category of being your 3rd best guard in rotation. In different team constructions, Delly, Knight, Nwaba, or Clarkson could be a teams 3rd best guard. I don't think you would want any of them to be your 2nd best guard when fully healthy.

I think Knight could be a teams 3rd best guard that gets heavy minutes and if he has to play as your second best guard for stretches, it wouldn't be bad. I'm not sure anyone else on our team falls into that category.

That being said I just don't think we need him long term. We will try to find someone else to pair with Sexton for our starting backcourt. I would be happy with Delly and Nwaba as the guards that rotate in, in the near future. Also the league has move from combo guards at SG to wings. You would think we would want to go to a wing heavy roster vs a guard heavy.

Pair all that with Knight's injury history and I would move on from him in the summer or at the trade deadline if we got a 1st round pick for him. I actually think a contender would see a healthy Knight as a better fit than Clarkson.

Yeah, I sort of meant that he provided some stability to the bench that was good to see in Delly's absence. Clarkson can't really do that.

Somebody has to expire for the Cavs to stay under the tax level next year. Once they get under the cap is reset. I wonder if Knight looks good the rest of the year and looks like he might fetch a 1st rounder, might they not trade JR and just take the team option and get off 10M dollars leaving them free to use Knight, Henson, and Delly at the Deadline. Realistically, I think they have to keep Delly or Knight after next year as a backup. I'd gues Delly would come pretty cheap. He has made some money.

Koby definitely has some wiggling he is going to have to do either in the summer or at the deadline. Maybe he trades TT in the summer or something, but it will be interesting to see how he restarts the clock on the repeater tax. Staying under for 2 years isn't really that easy if the plan to replenish your assets is to take on bad money.
