Set Free: Dante Exum

That bench unit could not score at all though. Nance, Henson, Exum, Delly and Porter. There is one scorer in Porter there and he didn't get the ball until the 2nd half playing with Love and Tristan. Garland didn't do a lot this game.

He is not in shape at all. Don't know how we can afford another non scorer in that unit, but overall I would say better than expected.
9 points, 2 steals and an assist in 15 minutes. I'd like to see what he can do once he gets in shape.

Yeah, without Clarkson that second unit that has been so effective looked totally different and not in a good way. Eventually I'm thinking it might be Porter, Exum, Windler, Henson and Nance with Porter at PG. His ability to penetrate and pass off is really impressive and he also draws fouls and can finish at the rim. Good things usually happen when he takes it to the hole.

I'm not sure how big a role Delly will have once Windler is back which will push Porter to guard along with Garland, Sexton, and Exum.

Edit:

I just saw that NMCav proposed the same second unit I did. Great minds and all that.

Once he spends time on the court with Windler, that would be a weird running duo... They both run/move awkwardly

Exum has a very strange way of moving. I can't help but think it has something to do with his injuries.

Windler was an iron Man in college,

At a minimum, Exum needs to take Delly's minutes. Overall, I would really like him to become a starter, even if it means benching Garland or Sexton.

Exum on, Sexton off: Cavaliers score 1.05 points per possession and allow 1.03 points per possesion, or +2 points per 100 possessions).

Exum on, Garland off: Cavaliers score 1.04 points per possession and allow 1.05, or -2 points per 100 possessions.

Exum on, both Garland and Sexton off (only 12 minutes): Cavaliers score 1.43 points per possession and allow 1.0 points per possession.

Exum off: Cavaliers score 1.07 points per possession and allow 1.16, or -9 points per 100 possessions.

Thus, literally any combination of the two guards with Exum instead of with each other is substantially better.

A big part of this is that other guards cannot pin Exum as the guy they are going to attack. On top of that, it means the Cavs can hide Garland or Sexton on the other team's weaker offensive guard.

Koby Goatman! ..... Just playing but I love taking a chance on this guy, I like his game.

Not getting enough Love for that one man wrecking crew he was this past game. We really needed someone like him on defense. Glad he is not a Nwaba or Thornwell on offense.

The 3 looks good. Nice form. Surprising. Shoot mid 30's and I am really happy.
