Love the pick!

I’d be lying if I said he didn’t remind me of some of the great big men of yesteryear. And by yesteryear I mean pre-1980s. The really slight build, the short-shorts, the springy legs.

despite his combine numbers, which iirc, weren’t elite…he covers ground better than any big in the class. Amazing recovery ability. Blocks with either hand.

the fluidity of movement while shooting and ball handling makes his potential sky high. I’m not putting a ceiling on this kid. Green and Cade may become good players, but an elite defensive big man who can defend most wings and some guards + contribute on the offensive end should’ve been the #1 pick.

but, I know the Pistons and Rockets are trying to entertain their fans and ball handlers do that.
Evan did not take part in ANY of the combine measurements or athletic testing. His brother the sf; Isaiah, did however, and decided to go back to school. We will probably draft him next season.lol
All anyone needs to know about Mobley, is he is an absolute freak of nature like Antetokounmpo was coming into the league, and much in the same way is still growing probably, played guard before his growth spurt like AD did, and was easily the best player in this draft by a mile, even though he fell to the Cavs because Det and Hou are dumb

Yeah, I’d like to see more of this.

ahh thanks for the clarification about it being his brother.

Very curious about Mobley’s hand size based on these videos on him palming balls and doing cool things. Phil Jackson has talked about handsize being something that can separate great players from special players.

Durant is an HOFer based largely on his incredible shooting and he was a good shooter in college. I'd LOVE to see Mobley be that too, but its a big ask, haha.
It’s indeed asking a lot. I watched Durant live in college. He was a freak that averaged 26 ppg. Mobley may be a great player some day, but he’s nowhere near the offensive weapon KD was at the same age.

7 foot tall-check
Good athlete-check
Can defend positions 3-5 very well-check
Jumpshot isnt coming to us broken-check
Decent post passer-check
Hand size is great-check
No insane injury history at 7 foot tall-check
Touch around the rim-check

Dudes main weakness is his weight which will obviously increase

Has the tools to be good

Excited to see how he develops over his rookie season but terrified he's going to get snapped in half going up against mature NBA bodies.

He’s playing the 4. He won’t be banging

Doubt Mobley is still growing. People expect a lot of the freaky long prospects who come into the league to still be growing after they enter the league ever since Giannis did. Saw people saying the same thing about Barnes. But the reason Giannis did was because he was just 18.5 when he got drafted. Mobley turned 20 a couple months ago.

But we don’t want Mobley to grow anymore vertically lol. We want him to grow horizontally. Right now he’s about an inch taller than Giannis but he’s like 30 pounds lighter. He’s 40 pounds lighter than Davis, 20 pounds lighter than Bosh, and 25 pounds lighter than Garnett. Even KD is 25 pounds heavier. I think Mobley needs to gain at least 20 pounds to be able to compete physically.

They must have seen the post about Mobley's mom not looking happy about her son getting drafted here :chuckle:

Can easily be done with this money hes getting and a personal trainer/nutritionist. At his age wouldnt surprise me if he packed it on before game 1 of the season

I’d prefer it to be a gradual process like with Giannis though. If he tries to do it in a few months, it’ll be mostly fat, unless he hops on the juice. Giannis has managed to gain 50 pounds since being drafted, yet he looks just as lean as he was back then, which is why he’s lost no explosion whatsoever despite being 25% heavier. I’m sure some of the weight gain can be attributed to physically growing another 2 inches. But even if you chalk up a whole 25 pounds to that, gaining another 25 pounds of mostly lean mass in a few years is impressive as hell assuming he’s natural.

They’re all juicing. So I don’t care.
