So... you're overreacting to overreactions that haven't happened yet?

Time is a flat circle.
I like to see it as more of a cautionary tale but one mans measured earning is another’s hot take/preemptive overreaction, so here I stand, guilty as charged

The thing I like about Mobley and can see being a consistent thing is he's going to make a positive impact on the game regardless of if he scores or not. Just the mere fact that he's been able to stay in front of some of the best guards in the league already...

You can see the hesitation or reluctance opposing players have when he slides out to guard them. His speed and length along with a high IQ has an intimidation factor.

They have no idea what he is capable of which is awesome. He surprises the hell out of them.

How he is able to keep it in play is amazing and the other team almost never gets it.

This is the issue to me. Kid can do so much and it's so versatile, what's the BEST way to use him? I don't think that is an easy answer.

Id like to get more spacing around him so he can facilitate easier.

He needs play finishers and shooters around him so the offense can run through him.
I think we need a wing player that can be good threat on offense - something similar to OG or Bridges from Phoenix. I still would like to see how Garland develops but really need someone who can be a two player on offense on the wing.

This is impressive as hell and needs to be talked about. He guards Trae Young, on multiple looks, out beyond the 3pt line, sags into the lane, back out to the 3pt line, stays with Young as he drives the lane , and blocks his shot, while not fouling. At 7ft and looking completely physically competent. That's nuts.

Putting Evan at the head of the 1-2-2 zone is pretty brilliant.

This is what I’ve been saying since the first preseason game.

We have our guy. The clock is ticking. We’re going to need to get the right people around him ASAP because he’s going to be a superstar, and we can afford to waste a single moment of that window.

Every single player and person in the organization is on notice. You need to prove you can be a part of this NOW or it’s time for us to move on.
All true, but my worry is that Koby seems bad at building a coherent team. He’s opportunistic and ok at spotting a “good player” in isolation but the groups he puts together don’t make a lot of sense from a team perspective. You could see this going back to the trades in Lebron’s last year, which did not make much sense in terms of building a coherent squad, even though a lot of decent role players passed through. Then Sexland+Okoro, using three lottery picks to build an incredibly undersized backcourt, didn’t make much sense even though Sexton and Garland at least are talented. This year the Rubio acquisition is good but Markkanen is a head-scratcher. He lucked into Mobley, a no brainer pick, but I don’t have faith he knows how to build around him

He’s included in the “people on notice”

So history as a guide, the last time Altman NEEDED to stress "fit" over "name" he turned the roster over midseason and the Cavs were able to ride the right mix of shooting/defense/bench scoring around LeBron into the Finals. It was a very good pivot from a shoddy team built on old resumes w/talent and interest no longer there. I get that LeBron was the key to getting to the Finals, but that group had much better defined roles top to bottom than the one that they opened the season with, and it was mostly all Koby's moves that got those guys.
I'm not sold that he can do it again, but if he can, mid-season is kind of when he will need to get it done. I think the deal is a package of Rubio and/or Laurie w/either Collin, Okoro, Garland or the '22 pick for their starting SF and a lesser role player for the bench. Just my guess.

Yeah that's a good precedent to point to.

It's hard to judge Koby on roster building imo, coz we are/were so clearly in talent accumulation mode. BPA above everything. If he passed on BPA he would be catching the same amount of blame most likely (he already is getting some for that).

Just super weird all the chips fell as they did and this gaping whole is left as a result on wing. Probably it's so big that it should've been compensated for by now in some way, but I get why it hasnt happened. (Plus if KPJ doesnt implode, he's a guy to point to the contrary).

Now it's time see how it goes. We have our guy to build around, it's time. But it's not as hopeless as some seem to put it imo.

Mobley has impressed me so far. I’m on the record as not being a big believer so I love the sweet taste of crow so far.

However I’d advise everyone to wait a bit before taking victory laps about Jalen Green. He’s still going to be filthy and those takes 3 games into his career will not age gracefully.

If Evan pans out though, he seems like a MUCH easier guy to sell on the Cleveland market than Green would be anyway. Have to imagine Green would be on the first plane out of here to a destination city.
