Reddish is terrible. He’s been bad 2 years in the pros and was bad in college too. Why are you guys getting fooled by a 4 game sample in the playoffs where he shot 9-14 from three when he’s shooting 30.9% for his career? I’d give up a second round pick for him just to take a flier and people in here are talking about exchanging Sexton for Reddish. Wtf?
Look I get the stats, but....

-Do we not weight what happens in an ECF against the Bucks a little more than regular season games?
-Do we not account for him being 21 and in need of obvious development uptick and the ability to do that, coming off a long injury, in an ECF is kind of a good indicator of the potential that is there(and actually was tapped into?)

Who recommended Sexton for Reddish? That's stupid and it's stupid from the Hawks perspective as well. Maybe that's why you are coming down so hard on Reddish.

To me though, not all sample sizes are created equally and there has to be more weight given to doing that in an ECF than in the regular season.

I honestly hope Reddish continues to improve and impact in the NBA just to stick it to the overwhelming negative takes he's gotten on this site for 2 years now.

I seriously don’t get the hate for Sexton. The kid is a beast.

He fits good with Sexton????? errrr ok. He would fit anywhere if you want to try and long wing. Sexton for Reddish isn't a bad deal if you can get another piece.
I don’t necessarily see Sexton being a fit with the Hawks who have a ton of wings, including Bogdanovic, who is making $18M per. They also have pending free agents, in John Collins, this offseason and Trae Young & Kevin Huerter next offseason. There’s no way they can pay all those guys plus Sexton.

About the only way Reddish makes his way here for Sexton is in a 3-way trade. The other option is to trade Nance, but I think the Cavs would rather keep him.

You read people's comps in this thread -- and get very confused as to why Giannis was the #15 pick in one of the weakest drafts in NBA history...

Giannis developed into a superstar with PG skills and handles -- he came into the league extremely raw and less skilled in almost every facet of the game than Mobley is now.

For what its worth, I think AD is the best comp (as a player coming out of the draft) -- whether he develops into a star remains to be seen.

AD was a bit of a better defensive prospect, but he is the best comp, somewhere between Bosh and AD as a prospect. Yes that is very high praise, but Mobley is a very good prospect

Since when is Atlanta trying to move Reddish?

He is behind Hunter, Huerta, Bagdonovic, even Snell, now they picked Jalen Johnson.

Cam has been very inconsistant, they have been shopping him, I am interested, but no way for Sexton. Cam has been trash compared to Sexton.

I would take Cam, but not for Sexton, take Sexton off the block now that we have Rubio, balances the roster there, but we still need SF depth and Cam looks the part, but i get he has played more like Jane, but if the price is right (not Sexton), I would take Cam

Mobley is super nimble for any size, not just for a pf/c.

He will be able to guard 1 through 5vwith ease. And what's great about him is that with his nimbleness he is also able to go over and under screens like a guard, coupled with his reach, timing, spacial awareness, iq, understanding if rotations he will be a menace defensively.

Sure, he will have issues defending big c, but he won't have to actually guard them with Allen and will be able to provide help defense all over the court and still rotate to shooters.

I think he will be a nightmare for wings especially.

He will struggle first with big physical centers at first but with experience and strength I think he’s going to be a star defensively. And totally agree about his nimbleness and awareness. I remember in his junior season in high school he dominated defensively against Wiseman.

His post defense is his weakness because of strength and narrow hips as big centers can turn their shoulder and spin relatively easy against him, but he compensates with his timing, coordination and blocking ability. Still, that's his only weakness that could turn into strength eventually.

But really, he shouldn't be the one guarding the C anyways for the time being.

I do think he would be a good pairing with Sexton. I'm not sure I'd give up our 2022 pick for him but if Nance is worth what he is rumored to be, I would trade Nance for Reddish plus another asset. Most likely that would be a 3 way deal.
I guess maybe the 22 first is too much since the Cavs would have to part with a player they need probably. I think there is a window of opportunity though so maybe that Spurs 2022 second and Cedi or something for Reddish gets it done. I dont know. Reddish has been pretty unimpressive but the tools are there if Bickerstaff can find them. I don't think Nate has the time for developing him at this point.

Hopefully they will just let Mobley play a bunch of different roles the next couple of years to find out what he does best and then start constructing the rest of the team to complement him.

It is going to take a few years for Mobley to develop which is why I think the Cavs are still not going to be good enough to compete for the playoffs for the next 2-3 years.

Of course any rookie is a work in progress and the long term outlook is most important, but this is the most skilled defensive big as a rookie, that was also a one and done, that is also an insanely quick and explosive, that the league has possibly ever had. I repeat ever had, so the only question is will he get to put those guard like handles and passing ability to use right away or is the coach going to snail it out and smother his ability to run.
He is a 4 not a 5 imo also.
The Cavs are making the play in this season
