Isaiah Hartenstein: wowing people in Vegas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Oh I know they think differently about practice. I know how a couple of current Cavs think about practice. I could still sit them on the bench.

Seems like a good pickup to me. 7 ft. 250 lb. and only 22. Every team needs some beef and with Allen, Nance and Wade, we have none.
The way this thread is going, I'm glad you said "needs some beef", instead of "can use some pork". That would be wrong.

An interesting quote from this nuggets article. I was pretty worried he was white, but it turns out his dad isn't.

What to Expect from Hartenstein

For starters, Hartenstein is not a big, white stiff that Nuggets fans have grown accustomed to as the backup big on the team — Hartenstein’s father is African-American.

How can you put that in your player profile????

I was wondering why a white dude was named Isaiah :celb (13)::celb (13)::celb (13):

If anything, I was mostly concerned that with a JaVale trade and a Drummond buyout, who would play in place of Allen. right now the Cavs only have small-ball options. The Lakers game sort of gave me the answer I was looking for.

His highlights look decent but the reports of turnovers (on a team that commits too many) doesn't sound good in the immediate future. That being said I feel better about him than say... Zizic, who was just too slow to keep up with this team even in the mess it was pre-Bickerstaff.

Zizic was untapped talent, i don't know what you're talking about.

I'd rather have someone with potential like Hartenstein over Mcgee. We shall see what he brings to the table tonight.

Getting the big start tonight....guess we'll see how it goes...missing 2 starters...

26 minutes
5 points
1-3 from 3PT
14 Rebounds
7 Assists
1 Block
1 Turnover
5 Fouls

There were some positives there I thought.. The assists numbers are very good for someone at his position... seems to be a solid rebounder. Shot looked OK.. Fouls look like they will be a problem.

For comparison

Isaac Okoro
28 minutes

0-6 from 3PT
3 Rebounds
0 Assists
0 Blocks
0 Steals
1 Turnover

I was surprised at his passing ability - he threw some nice bounce passes. In only 26 minutes he had seven assists and one turnover, which is excellent for a big. You can't complain about 14 rebounds in 26 minutes, either.

He had two fouls in the first 38 seconds as he appeared to be a little excited. But then three more fouls in the next 25 minutes isn't bad.

I didn't see much of an offensive game except that he fought for the rebound every time his teammates took a shot which reminded me of Tristan Thompson and Andy Varajao. Hartenstein is only 22 so I'm hoping he can develop into a taller Tristan Thompson - mainly a defender, pick setter, and offensive rebounder. Except I think he'll be a much better passer and shot blocker than TT.

With time he might even follow in Nance's footsteps and develop a decent 3-point set shot. Same with Jarrett Allen. Just takes 10,000 shots in the off-season.
