Isaiah Hartenstein: wowing people in Vegas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This guy has the potential to be the greatest Center in the history of the NBA if a few things break the right way.
Well, he'd have a tough time beating out Wilt and Russ so I think they should move him to point guard where he'd be a bigger Magic Johnson. Hey, everybody has been complaining that we lack size at guard, right? How's Philly doing with a 6'11" inch PG who can't hit a 3?

He's been better than I could have hoped for. I'm questioning why he wasn't getting minutes in Denver. Is he going to come down to earth?

His finishing was reported as bad and Beth ok, but his rebounding and passing have been excellent. I don't see why those will just disappear. Guy plays really hard.

I have to admit I was questioning the reason we acquired this guy as well but he has definitely surprised me with his play. Unless he’s going to come crashing back to reality soon I don’t understand why Denver let him go and acquired Javale?

Averaged almost 8 fouls per 36 before the trade. He was fouling guys coming off the bus. He's curbed that here in Cleveland somewhat.

Having some consistent playing time has helped him to calm down out there and play a bit more under control.
I remember checking out the Denver roster and looking at Hartenstein's numbers and seeing he was buried behind Jokic.
Thought to myself he'd be worth taking a flier on...just a really smart move by Koby.

Small sample size but he looks like a decent young back up center. Along with Allen I think we may have somehow solved the 5 position going forward in exchange for 1/2 season of an injued Dante Exum, 1/2 season of an expiring JaVale McGee, and a 2023 low first round pick.

Hartenstein is already one of the best passing big men I've seen. Two things contributed to that.

One, his Dad played at Oregon and then as a pro in Europe. I read a column where they interviewed him and he talked about how he thought it was important for little Isaiah to learn to play the entire game and not just be a post-up guy. So in youth leagues he had Isaiah playing point guard to develop his dribbling and passing.

Second, Hartenstein said that when he was on the Nuggets for 2.5 years he spent his time on the bench watching Jokic, who averaged between 7.0 - 8.7 assists per game the last three years and is probably the best passing big in the world.

So it's no surprise he's already had games of 6 and 7 assists. Last night I noticed they were handing him the ball at the top of the key extended and let him face the basket and make the pass while the other four plays set and curled off screens. He was like a point center, only he didn't dribble.

He's already an excellent passer and rebounder and he's only 22. He also showed an accurate little push shot from five feet that he can get off quickly. He's a lot better than I expected. If he can ever develop the ability to hit a 3-pointer from straight on - look out.
Had this guy played 30 minutes the last two games He could have had a triple double !

Cavz Havnt had a post player ( a true five) with Hartensteins passing skills since Brad Daugherty.

Practicing everyday against Jokic had to make him better. Reminds me years ago of Swen Nater backing up Bill Walton at UCLA (dating myself here). Once Nater was given opportunity to play He became a Studd Center in the league.

Hopefully the sample size from Hartenstein doesn’t price Him out of Cavz plans going forward. What a luxury to Have him and Allen for a couple years

Yeah he had 2 fouls in his first 38 sec as a Cav.

Interestingly, McGee had almost 6 with us and 11.2 Since Denver. Lol. Is that their benches fault?

I know it is still a small sample, but...

Isaiah Hartenstein is the modern day Swen Nater.

Big if true.

He is a real hard worker. A gym rat. A coach's son. He lives in the gym.

A real Euro game. Sneakily athletic. Surprisingly robust foreskin.

Wait, what was that last thing? I don’t recall that being cliche
