Isaiah Mobley: 2023 SL MVP

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
IMobley has excellent passing skills, and a high bbiq. I agree he is a step slow, but he has the aggression to make something happen and has decent defense.. He is not a starter, but could be a good backuip 4/5.. I think he gets a nba contract at some point.. I also think he is better than some of the back up centers already..

Exactly this. If he can shoot the 3-ball well, he could be more valuable than Niang, who is a rotational NBA player. Isaiah has better passing ability and is a better defender than Niang. I could see him growing into replacing Niang.

This in a nutshell, he will be part of this franchise as long as big brother is still around, he really needs to be a 3pt shooter stretch big man, not sure how long he can be a 2 way player, but he will get a minimum contract to be that 13 players on the team….
next year is his last year for 2-way contract eligibility.

I am not sure we sign him to a min deal after that or not, really depends on his development.

The key with our 2-ways getting converted to regular contracts has been their ability to guard. The guys with lots of zeroes on the contract line are the ones paid to put the ball in the basket. Take shots away from them and no one is happy. There are lots of scorers in the g-league, its the ones that can score and defend that get called up to the big league and stick. Both Wade and Stevens proved they could be versatile and valuable defenders, hence their current situations. This is likely also the case with I Mobley. Although, lets be honest, his last name also gives him a leg up.

And if keeping him on the roster keeps Evan happy, we likely do it.

He would need to get his 3 point percentage up and lose any hesitation in shooting them. Then he would need to take some Bad Hombre lessons, and up his trash talking game. then do some MMA training and get an enforcer vibe, take lessons from Niang and TT.

If he did all that he'd be set for a career path in the NBA with or without his brother.

He is shooting 36% on 4.7 attempts per game in g Leage this season.. not Moneypenny numbers, but not bad, and clearly has a green light to shoot them on the charge.. would be interesting to see what percentages are o. Catch and shoot and by location.. but it looks to me they are developing him in that direction.

Damion Jones did not attempt threes seriously until his third year in the league and did not Crack 35% until he went 10-14 while playing for Utah, the year before we got him..he was abjectly terrible in his two years of gleague.. This year he is 28% so far..

While Jones is more athletic, he is not the facilitator or rebounder iMobley has become..
