Chones talked about the lingering concussion symptoms on the post-game radio show. He said that
he had a concussion and it took him over a month after the main symptoms to start feeling
normal again.
Once you have one it's easier to get the next. I'm wondering if Allen is just trying to get through the season without getting another one. He saw what happened with Delly, who was out for months. A second concussion at this point would be bad. Maybe the Cavs should just shut him down because he's not helping at all when he's playing like he doesn't want to be in the game.I felt concussion symptoms for a full month before I recovered. I then proceeded to have 3 more concussions in an 18 month period.
And every chicken little complaining that "he doesn't want to be here," and "he's playing like crap" should have their noses shoved in it.
I saw Cavatt and Rich raising concerns that something is wrong with him in this thread, which is mirroring what has been talked about by myself and quite a few posters in game threads since he returned. This was the 3rd game of concerns for his play and seeming imbalance/inability to catch/inability to take any contact.
It has been clear since his return that he's not 100%.
Having that substantiated by Chones isn't cause for other concerned posters to not be concerned about Allen, it's cause for posters to be even more concerned with why he's back in game action when he clearly isn't 100% and why the org has him out there playing impaired if he's already been designated as one of our building blocks. Isn't the likelihood that he can suffer another concussion higher right now?
He's clearly affected in his gameplay and approach to the game. He's playing passive and avoiding contact, why did we play him 32 minutes against Chicago and DNP-CD Wade who might have pulled Vuc out of the paint? Why did we play him 35 mins against Golden State?
Waking up and seeing Chones substantiate what we've been wondering about for the last 3 games turns my concern for JA into frustration for the org, honestly.
You're not allowed to discuss or have opinions that differ even slightly from adamking's. He likes to get on here and attempt to talk down to people asking questions by saying they're 'whining' when in reality it's him whining in return.
The concern for Allen is real, no matter the cause or motive. And if it's because he's still having lingering issues from the concussion then the team needs to shut him down IMMEDIATELY. That would be foolish on their end not to do so.
You're allowed to make yourself look as foolish as you want...no one is stopping you.
Isn't that exactly what you're trying to stop others from doing? Well, in your mind anyway.
You're 100% right that a lot of people overreact constantly regarding this team and the players on it. But I think in the case of Allen it is fair to be concerned. I don't normally like to judge a player off of a single game, but watching him playing Detroit last night he looked like a shell of what he was a few months ago. He had no energy, wasn't engaging on the offensive end with Garland, and was getting bodied by a smaller rookie on the defensive end, all the while hanging his head looking defeated from the tip. Now I think he'll turn it around because I believe he's a talented young center but its totally warranted to be worried because we're expected to pay this guy something near $20 million per year this offseason, and we can't do that confidently unless he goes back to the way he was playing pre concussion. And every chicken little complaining that "he doesn't want to be here," and "he's playing like crap" should have their noses shoved in it.
This board is ridiculously hyperbolic and schizophrenic with a chicken little attitude mixed in. "He's a top 5 center in the League!" when he comes in... "He's playing like crap and we shouldn't resign him!" after coming back from a *BRAIN INJURY*... Y'all are doing the same thing with Hartenstein now...did the same thing with Wade...hated Love until he came back, thought he was Yoda for a few games, then hate him again...
This is an awkward roster in a VERY long, compressed, and challenging year. Instead of changing like Cleveland weather, why not give your takes more than a couple games to formulate? Or take the full picture into consideration?
This shit is tiring trying to keep up.
Agree with this..Allen doesn't look like the same player before he got hurt..and why have him out there for stretches ,then take him out?I saw Cavatt and Rich raising concerns that something is wrong with him in this thread, which is mirroring what has been talked about by myself and quite a few posters in game threads since he returned.
