Allen may not want to sit out. There are only a few more games left in his contract year. If the doctors clear him and we sit him "just because" it could really sour him toward the organization. I'm not claiming this is true, only saying it's plausible and something to consider before trashing the organization.

This. I suspect he wants to play right now.

Because he's gonna want other teams interested in him in case the Cavs get a little cold feet about handing out huge money. He needs the threat of a big offer sheet.

I noticed he posted career highs for a month in scoring + blocks in February 2021 with 16.1 PPG (2nd best month was 13.5 in his second year!) and the 2.0 BPG tied his career high. He went down to 11 PPG in March and is also there in April.

The concerns about the concussion are legitimate but what if our perception is being skewed by how brilliant he was in February?

Definitely.

But let's say he's not as good as he showed in February. That brings his number down quite a bit.

Yup. Clint Capella deal 5/90 with 80 guaranteed + 10 incentives while being 4 years younger doesn’t sound too bad. Just gotta hope things don’t get weird with the FO because I don’t have faith they can repair anything.

And tbh I think Capela is the better player. I think he was better when he signed that contract and he's certainly better today.

I actually looked this up the other day because I was pretty curious about it. Comparing age 22 seasons...

Capela did play on a slightly better team with a few players more talented than what we’ve got.

looks like the cobwebs cleared. You do wish he had a little more bulk/strength as he can get thrown into the first row of seats when bigger guys sneeze too hard around him, but overall I love Allen's game. I think he will be worth the 90-95 million investment.

Given the role each of them plays, that would actually make it easier.

Jarrett Allen was nearly 70% from the field playing for the Nets. Now he's playing on the Cavs and it's closer to 60%.

Another underwhelming performance last night. I hope he is out of gas, mentally and physically.
He loses the ball far too easily and often in the paint on both ends of the floor. He has also been
out of position or behind the play on defense again and again.

He's got multiple things to work on this off season.

And like it or not, he is going to get a very good contract from the Cavs or
another team. Cavs have to calculate how much to spend on what they think
he can become.

He should never be more than the 4th option on offense for a winning team.

He went against Sabonis, an all star center.

He was 12 points on only 6 shots, made 4 including 1-1 from 3. He had 9 boards 3 dimes and a block.

He played well, had a very tough defensive assignment. I realized he gave up 20 boards to Sabonis, most but not all against him, but we out rebounded the Pacers as a team so that wasnt the issue.

I am not sure what you expect from Allen every night. He needs to get stronger, but he isnt an offensive focal point so he wont get 20/10 games often. But even when he gets only 6 shots he is out their competing. He is a 15-20 year guy, not a max guy, I think we are being a bit harsh on him as he is always defending the toughest big the other team has.

I'd like him to hold onto rebounds, and get back on d

I don't expect big numbers but his performance in recent weeks has been indifferent and lazy.

I mean he's gotta finish the easy ones and he's not.

He only got 6 shots, but part of that was not finishing an ally oop dunk in which he received a touch foul and not finishing a layup after, I believe, an offensive board. Both shots should have been makes.

Then he had another chance where wade hit him in stride rolling to the rim and instead of showing any touch he just barreled into a defender and got an offense charge.

Those were 3 bunnies that needed to be made and he converted none of them. But they didn't count as shots in the box score.

Then another time late in the game where Sexton hit him after he slipped the screen and he was wide open and had the ball stripped right out of his hands by a guard rotating when it should have been a pretty easy dunk.

Just a lot of points that should have been had last night.

I get that no one is gonna convert 100% of those but he's been missing a lot of them lately.
