I like the trade because of Hartenstein. He's a 7 footer with some guard skills. I hope he gets minutes with us. The second rounders are a bonus.

So this trade was made just to do right by Javale and get him to a contender. If that’s the argument here I can accept that! But nobody will convince me that this trade improved this team. And until Koby proves he can flip second picks into something constructive then acquiring second round picks is wasted energy.

Well, don't you have to factor in that 1) the Cavs are not going to be competing for anything of significance this year, and 2) McGee could/would walk at the end of the season and we'd get bupkis? It's not like he was a long-term building block.

Even if those picks and the player don't amount to anything, we're still better off at the end of the season than if we'd just let him walk for nothing. Hartenstein has a decent shot of developing into a long-term backup center, which is something we needed that we didn't have.
