Somebody posted that Drummond commented that the Cavs might go with a front line of McGee, Drummond, and Nance when they need a stop. That would be interesting, especially if they put Okoro and Dotson at the other two positions.

If Drummond is really going to be busting his ass on defense instead of just lurking in the paint and gambling for steals then he'll need more time on the bench and McGee will be getting significant minutes.

McGee does that same stupid shit for blocks. It wouldn’t be any better. Even if Drummond is a stat padder on defense he’s still a better option than McGee 100% of the time.

Looking at JaVale's interview from yesterday, he sounds like he really wants to help the team...

He was expecting to play with the World Champion Lakers this year and got traded to a 19-win team. There was no talk of Cleveland before the deal so he was blindsided. You would expect him to be pissed, or at least disappointed. But...

I was excited as soon as I did my research on who I’d be playing with, who I’d be playing for. It’s a great environment. It’s a lot of young guys, but the young guys are extremely mature for their age. I don’t see any knuckleheads, as people like to call them, something I’ve been tabbed as a young guy. I don’t see that here. I just really like the environment and I feel like everybody comes in, works hard and they’re like sponges. They’re definitely absorbing all the information they can to be great. This is a great situation. - McGee

He doesn't see any "knuckleheads". Has he met Porter yet?

McGee's impression of the team and the organization is similar to that of Drummond, who made similar comments. It's a young, hungry team full of guys who are eager to learn and to improve and who want to be great. I think this team is going to outperform expectations this year. They could be the surprise of the league and the most improved team, or at least among the most improved.

If I thought that this was to help the Lakers, I'd root against the Cavs moving forward.

I'm a Cavs fan, not a LeBron fan. And if the owner of the franchise is putting LBJ's interests ahead of the interests of the team's...fuck him and the team he owns.

But I don't believe that, because I think the deal makes sense from the Cavs perspective regardless of the team with whom we made it.

ETA: We made the same general sort of deal with Milwaukee. Yes, it helped them out, and LBJ didn't play for them. But it also helped us out, so...why not?
Altman had no other choice. There's always risk of injuries, so that unprotected pick is far more valuable regardless if Giannis re-signed or not.

McGee has played with champion teams, Drummond has not. Might be some constructive lessons learned

He was leading the huddle before the game already.

Great post-game from him. He exudes confidence and says he knew immediately these guys could compete. He is giving them a lot. Had no idea he was this sort of presence.

I'm genuinely wondering if he would want to stay? He has rings, maybe this is a new fun challenge to help a team grow and make the playoffs. This isn't a Channing Frye role, and what are we gonna get for him a 2nd?
